I have never used the stupid tube method but started experimenting with rigging in the past couple of weeks.

one issue I’m having is trying to stupid tube rig a 2 1/2 inch tube. The hooks I’ve tried are too long.

any body got a link to a jig that’ll work for 2 1/2 tubes?

many thanks

The ones I’ve seen also work for 3 inch or bigger tubes. Gitzit seems to get bit better in the longer tubes for me. I haven’t figured out how to stupid rig a 2.75” inch yet, I’ve just been using open hook as always with the small tubes

Wait... is a "stupid tube rig" an actual thing? I just thought the OP was frustrated and getting creative with his adjectives...

I tried to think outside the box. I straightened a hook and used it like a needle to thread my line in the tube.  Then I buried a worm sinker in the body, and tied a smaller hook.

I caught one!

I now know a way to rig up a punch bait with a bigger tube!

I tied a steel worm weight to the eye to make this giant tube stupid....Gonna drag it around in TX and see if they like it.

That came out awesome.  Better than mine.  With a heavy punch weight, I think it would thread thru mats better than any creature.

That's not a bad idea, I don't ever punch so I'm not sure.  My guess is that it would be inferior to a pegged tungsten weight, the tube has a near 1" diameter and is super thin walled/light.  I would think a weight making the hole and pulling the tube down would be more effective.  Worth a try though.

This is a mizmo ish 7" tube and an owner offset worm hook in 11/0.  I sliced 1/2" of the tube on the shank side to give it more room to collapse on a hookset.  The worm weight is tied off inside, pulled up tight to the bend and secured to the shank, it's offset a touch and slightly rattles.  I'm hoping I get some spiral/glide on the way down.

Thank you @softwateronly. Appreciate you watching and recommending my videos.  I try. :)

Yup, I have the same "complaint" about using these jigs with shorter tubes.  There just aren't any options out there...yet.  As soon as somebody can make them with a tungsten head on a 2/0 hook....that's money.  In fact, I even mention it in my video.

Try this technique:

They don't make that hook anymore, but you can see how you can do this with, say, a Trokar hook.

I just received my order from Tackle Warehouse, ordered stupid tubes(3.7”) and gig heads.  I got 4.0 hook gig head, they have a 3.0 that I wished I would have got in stead.

The 4.0 work but 3.7” is about as small as I could go on tube size. I really like the tube colors they have. The Secret Lure website has kinda of a starter kit for stupid tube rigs.
Bass pro has a tube jig called the goofy-E and the eye is turned the opposite way but still has a big hook.
I have never fished a tube before, I’m ready to try it.

The Bite Me brand stupid tube heads are killer in 4/0 for 4" tubes.

I havent done a stupid rig    A couple of questions .

What tube size seems to work best? 3.5 inch? 4?

How does this thing go over sticks? With the eye pointing up, it seems like the  blunt nose of the tube would interfere with it being pulled over. Is there a certain jig head with eye angle that will go through thick brush best ?
