Mono to Mono knots aren't the same as Mono to FC... It's both actually. I either use mono to FC or mono to mono. What is your suggestion. I've been using M to M recently. I'm not sure florocarbon is a invisible as they say so I'm using mono to see. Hum, any examples of this? Hard to visualize. Sounds promising. Quote
C.Rig21 Posted January 28, 2022 Author Posted January 28, 2022 Does the water clarity have anything to do with your choice of using hi-vis yellow without a leader, or do you believe bass are not as line shy as most anglers believe. My lake is very clear. Quote

It's really easy but explaining it will make it sound harder. -Google or watch some YT videos on the "dropper loop knot". That knot uses only one line to create a loop, doesn't join 2 lines. -Once you have that down, get the 2 lines you want to join, tie them together with any knot and clip the tags. -Now tie the dropper loop with the joint of the "sacrificial" knot centered on the dropper loop and trim flush. 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted January 28, 2022 Super User Posted January 28, 2022 Blood knot is very easy to tie; back to back clinch knot. I have used the blood knot to tie backing to main line for decades. It’s works mono to mono but not so good mono to FC leader where the Uni To Uni knot works better. The issue is standard mono is .001D larger diameter the FC, eg; 8 mono mono is .010D, 8 lb FC is .009D. If the OP goes up to 10 lb FC at .010D both line are equal. Tom 1 Quote
WC53 Posted January 28, 2022 Posted January 28, 2022 4 turn Yucatan without the bimini. How you tighten it matters. Pelagic something has a good video on it. 1 1 Quote
C.Rig21 Posted January 28, 2022 Author Posted January 28, 2022 I'm going to give that a shot. I think I get what you are saying. Thx Quote

My lake is very clear. My lake water is not super clear, most of the time only a foot or two visibility. I do believe bass can see line but depends on how bass see it. I’m worry about line size more than line color and if I’m in doubt just clear Copolymer will do. I have a pet peeve about line color too, I have less confident in light color braid especially white. I do catch bass with them but if I can use leader (Copolymer) I would. you already use small line, you should try it without leader. Another way is using larger size FC leader line. Most of mono/Copolymer always have larger diameter than FC. 8lb Copolymer is about the same as 10lb FC line. You can even bump up to 12lb leader since we know FC has less knot strength compare to mono/Copolymer. 1 Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted January 29, 2022 Super User Posted January 29, 2022 You'll get it, it's not hard. I use 7 turns, and snug it tight, both the main and the tag, I started doing it this way for tapered fly leaders, and cut it flush, and I can't think of a time it's ever failed. 1 Quote
