I stole the Gordon Ramsey's cream of broccoli, and adjusted it just a tad, works great with asparagus too. Seafood bisque, or cream of crab is pretty good too. My egg drop, and pork chop yat gaw mein get good reviews. I make chicken nice (noodle and rice) soup and have that down to 30 minutes from scratch. I really like beef barley, but the wife doesn't so I don't make it often.

I used to make a hot & sour egg drop soup, but what you just posted needs some more dialog between us. That sounds awesome. ?

My wife is the beef barley soup one in my house and I'm the only chowder and seafood bisque eater.

Soups is one thing my wife excels at when it comes to cooking. One of the main reasons I’ve kept her.  She makes a wicked chicken and turkey corn chowder. This is what I’ve seen and have been told. I’m not a fan of those two. But I’m always ready for chicken veg, turkey noodle, beef veg, Italian wedding, chicken w/rice. Sounds great what you’re doing.

I am also, could have that on the stove everyday. But it’s not. Done with fresh cooked down endive and spinach is my favorite.

Everyone makes theirs a bit different.

Maryland Crab Soup

Start with a lb. of beef cubes, cut smaller and add to 3-4 quarts of water. To that add:

2 beef boullion cubes

2-3 white potatoes- peeled and diced

1 small white onion- minced

3-4 cloves garlic-minced

3 16 oz. bags frozen mixed vegetables (carrots, green beans, lima beans, corn and peas)

two cans of crushed tomatoes

one can of diced tomatoes

one can tomato sauce

1/2 cup of barley (rinsed)

1/2 head of cabbage-shredded

4 soup crabs, devil removed, cracked in half (steamed blue crabs, if you can find them. Not mandatory but a plus if you can get them)

3 bay leaves

7-8 dashes of Lea and Perrins Worchestershire sauce

4-5 dashes of Tabasco sauce

dash or two of cayenne pepper

Old Bay and black pepper to taste

1 lb jumbo lump blue crab meat (added just prior to serving). Maryland crab meat preferred but not mandatory.

Serve with bakery rye and Keller’s butter.

I'm a fan of a variety of soups.  If there's leftover smoked turkey, turkey noodle is going to be made from the carcass and it (or Brunswick stew).  If there's venison roast about, I'll make that into a venison and barley soup.  And if I'm just in the mood to make some soup, lentil and Italian sausage soup is a family favorite.  The wife makes some soups that are faster - my favorite is a fish ball and mung bean noodle she whips up on occasion.

You’re only supposed to post on the “rate the song above you” thread. J/K

The tomato soup sounds excellent!

Wow, I owe some of ya'll an apology. I thought (based on most of the fishing answers :) ) that we'd be opening cans of Campbell's or Progresso on this thread, but since it seems like ya'll are up to it, give these Peruvian soups a try sometime.

Chupe de camarones

Sancochado Peruano

Aguadito de pollo

As a rule, soups in our house are sides.  The most under rated soup of all is a good potato soup.
