zelmo Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 Does anyone know if the forum will ever come back? Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted January 23, 2022 Super User Posted January 23, 2022 Highly doubt it. I know the site owner was going through some changes in his life and there was quite a bit of *** going on with regards to the political realm as was the norm on there and people were speaking up. I enjoyed that forum and it was a good place to get some legit smallie info. It is where I first found out about confidencebaits and their products and that info alone is worth it lol Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted January 23, 2022 Super User Posted January 23, 2022 We’ve lost a few good ones over the years. Seems like there is a predictable life pattern with most forums…not unlike most bass clubs. Quote

The site had gone down in late summer, but came back about a month later. At that time there were some changes made to policy and some members were kicked off. Seems to me that it was only up about a month before it was down again. That was back in October so it appears that it is gone. What is interesting though is that you can still read some old articles on the server. Quote
Super User Scott F Posted January 23, 2022 Super User Posted January 23, 2022 I used to frequent that site quite a bit but got tired of the negativity. 2 Quote

heavyduty Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 There is a private FB group for Riversmallies. You can send Matt a PM to join the group. It was created as an interim place for the folks to share until the site comes back. Matt is upgrading the server and computer technical stuff ( over my head) to bring the site back but says it's gonna be a while. 2 Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted January 23, 2022 BassResource.com Administrator Posted January 23, 2022 Meanwhile, we've been here 25 years - longer than any other bass fishing site in the world - and we're still growing. The smallie forum is one of the most popular forums here. https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/forum/32-smallmouth-bass-fishing/ 9 1 Quote

Steveo-1969 Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 I joined Riversmallies.com about 10 years ago and learned a lot about catching river smallmouth in the first couple years as a member. There were some very knowledgeable river smallmouth fishermen on there. The last couple years it wasn’t about sharing fishing knowledge as much as a contest to see who could make the most outrageous insult. Purely a spectator sport for me but it was very entertaining and I miss it… ??? Quote
Super User Spankey Posted January 24, 2022 Super User Posted January 24, 2022 That sight was great years ago. What truly happened at the crash and big fight years ago I’ve yet to ever know. Fished with some great smallie heads from there. Fished a few rodeos. Was a good time. That site has little to no activity for a long time. Situation is a shame. Quote

There are no blowhards chastizing anyone for a question. Its a very refreshing place to go in this current social environment. The thought that goes into the answers on some of these posts is remarkable! 4 2 Quote
cyclops2 Posted February 11, 2022 Posted February 11, 2022 The impossible takes us a little longer. Enjoy a lot of sincere help. From those who KNOW the fish ARE GETTING smarter to attacking any lure without sizing it up. I have accepted a fact. That I have to wait for the fish. To get carelessly hungry and attack high speed lures. Quote
MassBass Posted February 14, 2022 Posted February 14, 2022 I also enjoyed that forum; back around 2013. It did get kind of out of hand with a troll and slow traffic, so I turned away. 1 Quote
Blue Raider Bob Posted February 24, 2022 Posted February 24, 2022 Fortunately most member also fish rivers and help those of us that are new in this sport. I was a lifelong crappie fisherman until a trip on the Tennessee River below Nickajack dam. I caught a 3 lb 10 oz smallie and my crappie poles got retired. I have been pursuing smallies ever since but I have much to learn. I'm grateful that all my river fishing questions are answered sincerely and never ridiculed. I almost fish rivers exclusively both the Tennessee and the Cumberland. Something about drifting with the current and tossing TRD's and Shad Raps makes life !!!!!! Sure appreciate you guys and the forum! 3 Quote
