Love my Exprides. I'm sure these will be a step up. Monocoque handle just like the Zodias and Poison Adrena. Shocked that the price is the same as the current models. Can't wait to give them a try. When exactly will they be released?

Perfect timing…..I’ve been sitting on a $400 credit for some trade-in rods at ALF. Just ordered a Halo HFX to try.

Will definitely be ordering one of these new exprides…7’2 MH or Heavy will be the decision for the day! I throw 1/2oz jigs plus trailer and T-Rigs with 3/8oz weight plus plastic. Any Expride owners have suggestions?

I have two 7'2" med-heavy. For 1/2oz jigs I'd 100% go for the heavy. For 3/8 oz Texas Rig the med-heavy may be a little more ideal, but I think you could definitely get away with the heavy. Assuming the new rods feel like the current model.

Have you used that MH for spinnerbaits? Would it handle a 1/2oz spinnerbait?

I haven't but I've thrown 3/8oz spinnerbait/chatterbait/swim jig and they all worked well. I think it'd do just fine with a 1/2oz. It's such a great, versatile rod.

I have the 7'6" MH and fish 1/2oz jigs and trailers with it and enjoy it, but I definitely feel near the upper end of the rod when the weeds are thickest.  I think  @NorthernBasser is correct saying the H might be the better choice.

I’m wondering what the new models/powers/actions are?

I saw they mentioned expanding the line.

I will say, I'm not to pleased at the spinning rod handles.

Shimano has gone to the forward grip design like most daiwas. I'm not a fan since I dont grip the handle with most of my fingers in front of the reel foot.

I guess I'll just stick with my old models.

I'm happy they didn't add any colors to them. Especially any gaudy colors. I have NO idea what St. Croix was thinking with the new BassX. ? Rod looks obviously isn't nearly as important as other traits. But still. I guarantee, if anything, this will hurt sales.

In late 2020 I bought my first NRX, Loomis updates them in 2021. Last year I bought my first Expride, this year Shimano updates those.

Any particular line of rods any of you want to see updated next year? I could use some ideas next time I'm browsing online stores at 1 in the morning.

In all seriousness, they look really nice - except for that "autograph" looking deal on the reel seat like the Poison Adrenas have.

@NorthernBasser I thought the same thing when they showed the new ones. I have a crazy theory that it was to discourage people from pairing them up with SLXs and giving Shimano more money...

One of the pros of the old Bass X over some of the other rods in that price range for me was that it offered a lot of actions that the SLX rods didn't, while still being matchy matchy with the SLX reel. Now.... No doubt it's an even better performing rod, but it definitely loses some appeal.

Not surprised to see the Expride get the monocoque handle, am surprised that the price increase is pretty modest. New 6'10" medium looks like it's rated as a moderate fast instead of fast. Fingers crossed the current model can be had for a decent discount before they're gone, but I highly doubt it.
