I think that’s March for JDM and probably later in the year for USDM.

Where did you see 19.800 yen? $171 sounds about right considering the Tatula 100/150/200 is $170

Edit: Plat has it listed for 19,800 yen

Is it safe to preorder these from Plat? I've never purchased JDM tackle before.

"Daiwa Tatura"?? ??

To me it looks like an Alphas frame with a Tatula style sideplate and brake dial.

I will be checking them out..... Along with the Tatula SV recently showing up in ads.

I’m seriously like the Daiwa old brake dial from this reel and plan to make two tones alphas like the rest of them.

Bummer, I thought they used the same floating spool as Alphas. Well, in this case, the new Tatula SV 70 will probably have a spool shaft as well.

I'll reserve judgment until I see a drawing. There was no mention made of an extended pinion and corresponding handle-side-plate bearing for it when the Tat 300 was announced, but it has one. If @Bass_Fishing_Socal is successful in tricking his wife into letting him get one maybe he'll post the schematic for us to peruse.?

This is supposed to be noticeably cheaper than an Alphas, so is it really surprising that they would change it?

Yeah, I guess we got our hopes too high. But Daiwa did occasionally present some value-packed quality reels, for example, the BG spinning reel.

I guess it confirmed, Tatula tw 80 come with shafted spool and no bearing either. I’m not sure now how much daiwa did modified the frame. I guess there are even more chance that Tatula SV 70 would use the same frame with just a little lighter weight shafted spool with air brake.???????

It should not affect the casting performance much, and I think even with one less bearing, the pinion gear is still relatively well supported as other Tatulas, especially given the light duty this reel is designed for.  What I am trying to say is, it's still a great reel for its price, if you don't already have the Alphas.

No it is not, I agree like I mentioned earlier. If Daiwa give this reel 100 or 103 spool I would be even more interested.
I used to have Tatula CT type R, like the reel for medium-heavy duty used. On hard cast sometime I got spool vibration(maybe?) and line start puffing uncontrollable.

The price right now cheapest you can get from Japan is around 165 and SV 70 might be around 185 marks still a good price but again Alphas can be have at 180-200 as well.

I just disappointed because I like old brake dial better than the one come with Alphas and Zillion. I want DAIWA not Shimano ???.

Yeah, for the prices right now, I would pick the Alphas as well. But after all, it's a JDM reel - no warranty. Some might want the USDM 80 or 70 version for that reason.

Warranty or not, another reason for choosing the Alphas over the Tatula 80 or 70 is the overall quality of the reels. Even though a Fuego, a Tatula, and an Alphas don't feel much different at first, some quality differences are not so easy to discern. I used to have a Fuego CT, the line guide fell off during the first trip, I had to superglue it back.

I think it depends on what the price ends up being for the 70/80. If you can find them for around $130 that’s a huge difference from a $200ish Alphas. But if the 70/80 is more like $170/180 then it becomes a lot less attractive (except for the color, do not like silver on the alphas)

No Magforce Z? Daiwa's website just says "Magforce" and TW says "20 position magnetic braking system".

I was kinda stoked about this reel but or that price, not so much now.

For that price, Alphas all day

I just think that it shouldn’t be $200, I think that’s too much. Am I wrong?

Expand

I don't think you are wrong at all. We can buy the Tatula 100, 150, and 200 for $159 all day long, occasionally even cheaper, but they jump the price of the 80 up to $199? Don't understand this. And on the SV 70 bumping the price from $199 for the regular Tatula SVTW up to $229. Nope.... I'll go order the Alphas instead,..

Even though I generally like my Daiwas,... I will go buy another SLX MGL 70. I have two of those no and they are the smoothest casting little reels I have, other than the new Zillion and Alphas.

Just my 2 cents......

I was able to fish the tatula tw 80 for a bit today. Nice overall. Casts good, feels smooth, and palms well. I have an Alphas sv tw and I feel like the alphas might be a little smoother but hardly noticeable. Didn't get to catch anything but still enjoyed my time on the water with the new reel

$199 is pushing it, but I really like small framed reels and I like daiwa mag z brake system. I wanted a slower reel for small swimbaits, chatterbaits, and spinner baits and the alphas sv isn't offered in a 6 speed ratio. I'm happy with my purchase but the alphas for $215 is the better reel

Thanks I want to see how palm side plate attached to the frame. I want to see if I can modified alphas frame to fit Tatula side plate.
