I kinda like having the swimjigs, (any jig for that matter) in hand when I am trying to find a trailer.  so I didn't order any.

any suggestions?  I only have tried a Kietech paddle tail thing.  I got a great hit.  sadly only ONE great hit on that swim jig at Clearlake, but it was enough to tickle my fancy.  it was like the bass slammed it hard and it stopped cold.

I really want more swim jig bass.  it is so much fun..burning that bait thru the spring grass.  not too tall, not too short grass.

XZone Swammer. Gets the whole jig rocking! Sounds crazy but probably the best paddle tail trailer for a swim jig.

Menace or Rage Bug rigged vertically is great too.

Strike King Rage Tail Twin Tail Menace Grub

I like to rig them sideways on a swim jig.  They're a little less aggressive vs. a paddle tail, but they don't loose their action coming through vegetation.  Another is a Kalin's Lunker Grub. A poor choice for working in the grass, but for over and along the outside or inside edges, they're hard to beat.

rage menace

zoom zcraw (also jr)

sometimes paddletails

i like trailers that create a lot of drag for the jig, allows me to keep it in the strike zone longer by shaking the rod tip

No trailer at all. It's how the trophy guys with livescope are doing it now.

Interesting.

I once tried a Yamamoto shad shape and it looked awesome to me.  The bass?  Dunno. It was very streamlined

I am going to break from my comfort zone and take some swim jigs with me to Okeechobee in a couple of weeks.  I’m not a swim jig expert but I will be rigging them with both a Yamamoto Zako in paddle tail and fork tail.  Swim jigs and Swimbaits are go to baits on the big o.  I usually am a 5, 6 and 7 inch Senko guy and DShads.

This is the 2nd year going to Okeechobee.  Before that we went to Kissimmee.  We stay at Roland’s Resort and meet up with some locals.  It’s a good trip.  I also go to St Clair in May and Wisconsin in August.  Been doing St Clair for 20 years.  Those are my 3 away trips every year.  Waiting for more of my buddies to retire so we can add a few more. ?

Btw I rig them vertically as opposed to horizontally to give the jig a more bluegill\baitfish profile. The paddles are up and down that way so it swims like a fish tail.

The XZone swammer and R2S D Walker are durable and give the jig lots of roll with the swammer having more aggressive roll compared to the Dwalker.

Zooms swimming  Flukes in the standard and jr size give a jig a ton of roll as well.  They arent very durable, but they have tons of color options and are readily available at most tackle shops.

Base is Waupaca and the King chain of lakes.  I used to fish winneconnie and the Fox river.  Have fished Big Green as well.  The fishing on the chain has been so bad the last couple of years since they sprayed the aquatic vegetation, that I actually left the boat at home last year.  Sad really, it used to be really fun fishing.

Sadly it's that way on a lot of lakes.
