HaydenS Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 Wonder why he switched... Wonder how he likes 13 fishing over megabass/shimano... Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted January 20, 2022 Super User Posted January 20, 2022 It's all about dollars really. He's got a family to support, so you can't blame him. Brand loyalty is becoming a thing of the past any more. 5 Quote

Logan S Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 My guess is that Megabass doesn't offer a top-line sponsorship package for the US touring pros (compared to other companies)...Only thing that really makes sense as to why all their anglers gradually left over time - Martens, Evers, Clausen, and now Zaldain. Zaldain posted a pic of 35-40 new rods in the highest priced model 13 offers, which retails for $350ish...So his dollar value on rods isn't really going down . He'll be a good fit with 13, his highly technical style will probably showcase their high end gear very well. They haven't really had that until now. 4 Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted January 20, 2022 Super User Posted January 20, 2022 Most pros don't look at equipment like the average enthusiast does. To them they are tools, and if Makita is going to pay them more money than Milwaukee to frame the houses, then that's what it is going to be. 5 Quote

But how does that affect their representing a product. There’s absolutely no credibility coming from someone who just follows the $$. 2 Quote

Also 3 rods out of how many? That being said it is a very nice thing and anything is better than none so major props to for that Quote

Surprised he didn’t go googan tho. Quote
Finessegenics Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 I assume that a pro of his caliber would not just throw their name behind any old brand. It is about the $$$ but to a certain extent he must like the products and believe in their stuff. 1 Quote
softwateronly Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 -Why shouldn't he follow the money? He's a fishing pro w/ bills to pay. That's the definition of pro. -Why would you ever listen to a sponsored pro talking about gear they are paid to use without weighing their conflict of interest in your decision? -Some of this starting to remind me of pro wrestling. scott Quote
volzfan59 Posted January 21, 2022 Posted January 21, 2022 I read yesterday that he is now with 13 Fishing. I don't remember where I saw it to use as a source, BassBlaster I think. Edit, I guess I should have read the title of the article before posting. Oh well, apologies. 1 Quote

Let the hate flow. 13 makes good stuff, their recent hard baits have all been pretty good lures and as for Googan, their baits are doing just fine too. Still, I'm happy to see the hate flow as well.
