trapin68 Posted January 19, 2022 Posted January 19, 2022 Hey guys/girls....I recieved a brand new 13 Fishing Fate Spinning Rod as a gift. It is 7'1" in length, Medium/Heavy power, Extra Fast action. I've been scratching my head to figure out which application best fits this rod. Understand I am new to Bass Fishing. From the research I've done....Drop Shots, Tubes, and Ned Rigs require Medium to Medium/light, so they're out. Spinner Baits, Bladed Baits & Swimbaits I throw on a Baitcaster. I don't know....I'm guessing Jigs, maybe some topwater. Texas/Carolina Rigs? Thanks for any advice you can give me. Quote

First, understand that the label on the rod may or may not correspond to how the rod actually fishes, so actual time on the water is the right answer, but assuming it is somewhat accurate, small to medium t-rigs, lighter swim jigs, larger tubes, and with mono some treble hook lures.(micro chatter too, but shhhhh...) ElijahH Posted January 19, 2022 Posted January 19, 2022 I have a similar rod basically dedicated to a weightless T-Rigged Senko. 1 Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted January 19, 2022 Posted January 19, 2022 Dock skipping and casting into the wind with any bait you’d throw on a similarly powered casting rod. 5 Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted January 19, 2022 Super User Posted January 19, 2022 As others have said, it sounds like a rod for soft plastics to me. 1 Quote
Kenny Yi Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 dont throw out the tube just yet, the extra fast tip screams for a texas rig or tube, you can use any lures that fit the labeled weight range 1 Quote
Capt No Fish Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 This would be perfect for Finesse Jigs. 1 Quote
FishinBuck07 Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 Weightless plastics, and maybe shakey head and finesse jigs with a light hook Quote
