GRiver Posted January 16, 2022 Posted January 16, 2022 Anybody use or hear of the Mendota Rig? It’s made by C to C bait Co. The sell them at Tackle Warehouse and Lure parts online. I like the way the sinker is attached to the rig. It looks like the line would get in the way and the hooks backward. They have Videos on Tackle Warehouse. Tell me what you all think. Quote
GRiver Posted January 17, 2022 Author Posted January 17, 2022 I found a video of them maybe it’s called something else Quote
Skunkmaster-k Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 I’ve seen something pretty similar that was called the “ chicken rig “ . But I don’t think it had the hole in the screwlock for the hook to slide through. Quote
Oklahoma Mike Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 That’s just the tiny child rig with a creature bait. I use that setup quite a bit with various soft plastics with a decent amount of success. Basically just a weedless version of a Ned rig presentation-wise. Quote
ghost Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 Same concept but I think Gary Yamamoto came up with similar rig with the Fat Ika, hooked backwards. The Ika will cast far when rigged from the skirt and pointed end through close to the nose end. It has a slightly slower glide on slack line and the skirt flares out when dragged or popped. I've caught many a bass with the Fat Ika. Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted January 18, 2022 Super User Posted January 18, 2022 It came out of WI so of course it’s backwards lol. Seriously though I believe a version of this was produced and sold under the uncle josh umbrella of companies. I tried it and caught some fish. Probably did the best using a bell sinker with a tube. Ultimately I quit using it because I caught more fish using other methods. Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted January 18, 2022 Super User Posted January 18, 2022 "What's the best line for Mendota rig fishing?".... LMB guys are nothing if not entertaining... Quote
Super User the reel ess Posted January 18, 2022 Super User Posted January 18, 2022 This looks like a solution for a need that doesn't exist. 2 Quote
