Double Indiana spinnerbait

Seems like there are not many on the market. Where is the Bootah covert but I colors are not the greatest and only 3/8oz.  Does anyone have any recommendations I’m think I’m just Buying blades and adjusting the ones I currently have.

Booyah covert double indiana is a seriously great spinnerbait. You have another good option for getting one with two indiana blades out of the package, 3/8 or 5/8oz. Go to Stan Sloan Zorro's website and customize a bango blade spinnerbait with two indiana's. That's it for what I would recommend for store-bought double indiana's. 

 

Otherwise, yeah, just take any old spinnerbait, and I'd find a longer wire armed one with at least 0.032 gauge wire, and put your components as desired on. Maybe size 3 front and size 4 back for 1/2 oz, and 3.5 front and size 4.5 back for 3/4oz? That's probably where I would start with for blade sizes.

I believe War Eagle makes some? To be honest though if you are at this level I would suggest starting to make your own baits.

I've never seen an advantage to a double Indiana over an Indiana Colorado, but as you say, it's an easy fix to change out blades.

I looked up War Eagle double indiana and I honestly can't tell if this one is a double indiana or not. Kind of looks like it but the shaping of the front blade makes me think it is a colorado.

Your best bet is to make your own.  You don’t see them much now but I know there were 2 and I think 3 Bassmaster Classics won on a double Indiana’s in the 70’s.  Just interesting trivia…not suggesting it’s the answer to your spinnerbait dreams.

I bought a bunch of spinnerbaits  from War Eagle including double Indiana's. I think they have been sold but I would check their web site.

OP... there is more than just the blade configuration that makes the Booyah Covert spinnerbait a good tool.

GREAT suggestion thank you on the zorro but sadly they are out of stock.

Also thank you for the knowledge on making your own Curious how do you know the gauge of the wire?

Sometimes the gauge is listed, sometimes it isn't. I've seen it on the packages themselves, tackle warehouse descriptions of the spinnerbait, other websites having the spinnerbaits for sale. Over time you kinda get an idea of wire thickness and can compare wire thicknesses between spinnerbaits. The reason I recommend at least 0.032 gauge is because if you are putting on your own components onto a spinnerbait, the wire can have a tendency to snap short when you are trying to create the end loop where the swivel goes. With a little thicker wire you can make one up no problems, but you also give yourself the potential freedom to adjust the blades again if you want if you notice that the first blade combination you picked doesn't work as well. If you make your own using a light wire like 0.030, you pretty much get one shot. Hope this helps

 

By the way, from what i remember, booyah covert uses 0.035 heat treated wire, and zorro bango blade uses 0.030.

Spinnerbaits are probably one of the easiest lures to make.  You can buy the head/wire combination and just add the components to match what you want.  As far as wire sizes, the most common are .032”, .035”, & .040”.  You usually see the smaller wire on smaller spinnerbaits and the larger on larger.  I would buy round nose pliers as well.  You can use regular long nose pliers but bends are easier and more consistent with round IMO.  I usually buy my components from Lure Parts Online or Barlows.

Certainly lots to like about them. If the quality control was better and they put a good swivel on, it’d be my go-to I think. They comprise maybe 1/4 of my spinnerbaits right now.
