I've never seen this happen before. I have one of the new blue Tatulas CT100H reels.  Back in late December it started making a terrible grinding sound and the first thing I though of was dirt.  I take the side plate off and one of the yolk springs looks like it was ran through a garbage disposal.  I ordered some new springs from Daiwa and earlier in the week they came in.

So today I'm cleaning the reel and I replaced the bad yolk spring, I put the reel back together and start spinning the handle and for the first few turns it was alright.  Then it started making that grinding sound again.  I take the reel apart, and the new yolk spring is off of the post on the clutch plate and into the gears.

Anyone have this happen to a reel before?

Once you've placed the springs on the posts are you keeping the gearset pointed north and level while holding it up at eye level and not twisting the side plate at all while dropping it on? Also, are you installing the AR sleeve before you install the sideplate? This will limit movement and center the assembly. A small dab of grease at the bottom of the spring posts will keep the springs from flopping around.

This was the first time I had ever had the side with the gears open.

Probably wasn't assembled correctly when you got it. I don't see this too often but it happens. Take the springs and stretch them slightly. you aren't gonna hurt anything.  When you put the handle side plate back on, put the handle side plate on from above and watch to make sure the springs don't compress sideways on the yoke post. make sure they go straight down. They don't seat on anything except those posts.

OK. So follow what @iabass8 and I outlined and report back. If what's been written doesn't make sense ask again and someone will clarify further. It's easy stuff once you get it.

Yoke, yolk is yellow part of an egg. I m leaning toward assembly method rather than mechanical issue.

Thanks for the feed back.  I'm going to try and straighten the springs that came with the reel before installing the new ones.  I'm starting to think the new reel I bought online was a return from another buyer.

Don't remove the palming side plate, and leave the spool installed. Remove the handle and sideplate, but nothing else. Let's see a few close-up pictures of the installed as-is main gear, pinion/yoke assembly.
