KSanford33 Posted January 12, 2022 Posted January 12, 2022 I remember watching Denny Brauer as a kid and being both amazed and confused that he relied almost solely on flipping and pitching. Are there any pros like that today, who only rely on one or two methods to compete? Quote
HaydenS Posted January 12, 2022 Posted January 12, 2022 Not really anymore. With so much variety in the tours, it makes it pretty difficult to be one dimensional. Although Aaron Martens could catch fish on a dropshot anywhere ? Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted January 12, 2022 Super User Posted January 12, 2022 Pros get "known" for a particular type of lure or presentation, but none are one trick ponies, it doesn't work that way. 5 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted January 12, 2022 Super User Posted January 12, 2022 I recall Brauer winning a BASS event with a crankbait but pitching and flipping was his thing . 1 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted January 12, 2022 Global Moderator Posted January 12, 2022 Hmmmm, Dean Rojas and a frog, Jesse Wiggins and a shakey head, Jason Christie and a spinner bait, Greg Hackney and a Texas rig, Frits with a crankbait, Zaldain with a mag draft, mark Daniels and a rattle trap …… 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted January 12, 2022 Super User Posted January 12, 2022 Even in a case of using just one bait, it isn't one trick that is catching them. 1 Quote
KSanford33 Posted January 12, 2022 Author Posted January 12, 2022 I don't think I worded the beginning of the post correctly. I know pro anglers are the best in the world. You could give these guys a snoopy pole and they would go out and catch a limit. I'm more interested in the anglers who are known for using one particular method of catching fish, like Brauer with flipping. Sure, he could go out there and catch a limit using any number of methods, but he prefers to flip. TnRiver46 mentioned several other anglers who are known for one particular style. As I'm sure most of you can tell from some of my other posts, I'm interested in learning what works for others and applying it to my game. That's why I'm interested in learning about other pro anglers who are known for one particular style. Thanks guys. 1 Quote

I like watching them get skunked on the score tracker while fishing lakes that are FAR better than anything I get to fish. Sometimes you're the windshied, sometimes you're the bug, even when you're an elite level pro. It's amazing sometimes that even at that level, you'll have a few guys absolutely crushing it, while some others blank. Quote
cyclops2 Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 Big lakes I have found, Have schools of Largemouth Bass the live away from shore. They rest & sleep suspended. Then all go looking for a bait school to attack. Got to have a bunch of luck to catch them eating. Quote
