3.5% this year.... Feels like a kick in the gut.

2021 SS COLA is 5.9% no? If you are getting less, there is/are extenuating circumstances.

Correct on that number - just doesn't match the 7% general inflation for 2021.

I work in IT, and our year to year adjustment isn’t what I expect other fields are. Within the HPC field you’re stepping up in seniority or moving to a new company every two years with a 10-20% increase in salary. Or you flake out and get burned, end up a Windows admin eating paint chips.

Looks like MB has increased the prices on their USDM rods both casting and spinning. Multiple websites now show $249 for Levante and $349 for Orochi. While I can understand an increase because the cost of materials has gone up, I don't think 25% is a good jump for the Levante. Considering it is very difficult to get more than 10% off on any MB sticks, they have priced themselves out for a lot of folks.

Good thing I don't pay 300$ for a fishing rod ?

Ok, I think, we were discussing cost of living adjustments for pensions and the like, someone mentioned 3.5% which is inaccurate for '21. Private sector employment is all over the place, winners and losers.

I bought a set of Conair clippers 20 years agonfor about 25 bucks.  Wife slaps those comb things on the clippers and cuts my hair in 15 minutes once a month.  Haven't paid for a haircut in decades.

I used to make a visit to the local Great Clips about once every 45 days for a haircut. Did this for as long as I can remember.

Spring 2020, Covid started and they shut all the barber and salons down. Well crap, I need a haircut and now it’s really starting to bother me. Wife says “I’ll do it if you find me some clippers.” So I start looking at major retailers. Completely wiped out on store shelves. Dammit

Lets check online. Sold out, sold out. eBay has some and I start bidding. Eventually win one for double the msrp price.

Well now I just use that set of clippers for most of the year as long as the weather is warm enough for the wife to give me a haircut on the deck. I still go to great clips about twice a year in the middle of winter but the clippers I paid double for on eBay have more than already paid for themselves.

Probably Canada. I'm in NY state, and a man's cut, wash, and shave is $30 at a nice salon.

What does it cost to have your back waxed?

I remember back in the '50s when businessmen would visit the barber every week or two. Of course their haircuts were pretty much left over from their WWII service and got shaggy fast. Haircuts and shoe shines. Those were the days. Vitalis and Brylcreem. And Wildroot.

It was a big deal when I got big enough to graduate from mom taking me to the kids' barbershop to my father taking me to the real barbershop.

The straight razors and bloody nicks took some getting used to.

i noticed daiwa reels have bumped up across the board. tatula ct's are now 139.99 msrp, which is up from 129.99 where they were previously. fuego CT 109.99 instead of 99.99. i beleive the 100's 150's and 200's also moved up too. i expect all brands to see this coming shortly.

Yep. $20 set of Wahl clippers = 20 years of cuts for me as well!
