While ya’ll ***** at price of a fishing rod increasing by $25 I’m looking at my gas bill with close to 100% increase year over year for month of December. I’m expecting January to be even worse. The increase is close to the price of levante btw.

I empathize with you. It isn't a great feeling to have a necessity become a burden.

We are complaining about small money in the grand scheme of things. I'm passionate about fishing, and enjoy the gear side just as much. This debate isn't about the cost of living, its the rising cost of something we're all passionate about.

On and off since 2008, but it ramped up hard when COVID hit.

I just don't see how this is sustainable.

The truth is it isn't for the vast majority of us. Some people have gotten lucky, or managed to climb in their careers and can weather the storm. For others the next few years are going to be brutally hard.

If a certain product is worth an increase I don't think it's unreasonable. But, MB is not one that I could justify! They are plagued with breakage and QC issues. I've tried the Orochi XX and US destroyer lines. Both had issues right away. One broke(XX) and the other was literally falling apart(lock nut and handle).

But that's the beauty of having so many options in the fishing world. Let your wallets do the talking.

I bought a set of Conair clippers 20 years agonfor about 25 bucks.  Wife slaps those comb things on the clippers and cuts my hair in 15 minutes once a month.  Haven't paid for a haircut in decades.

I'm even easier. Every few weeks the wife trims the end of my ponytail with a pair of scissors...no muss, no fuss.

Ya - when you're stuck with only Social Security, and this year's increase was just under 6%....it's gonna be a hard year.

The only people I ever hear say “dome”, is people without hair.  I guess people with hair have "hair on their heads", and people without have "no hair on their domes”. ?

Heck, everything is going up yet we keep getting told how strong the economy is.

As long as it sells! I see about 500 trucks a day that cost more than 50 grand

These threads are better than a live comedy show and a movie all rolled into one, only remotely constructive thing I have to add is that nothing is ever as cheap as it is right now, prices always go up, I can't remember the last time anything really decreased in price in any hobby of mine, fishing is no exception, and there is precisely diddly squat I can do to change it, just gotta roll with the punches.

In my neck of the woods, every business is booming.  Where I work, last year we set new records and the first week of January was the best in my companies history...... If we could only get steel and electronics for our machines..... Oh and few healthy employees that can stay on their feet wouldn't hurt.

same here, I'm an engineer for one of the big car mfg. if we just had chips and other components for vehicles.

My p5 kasumi was $348 from japan.  Shipping was $65 for 2 rods in the same tube.  I buy from U.

S. retailers mostly, but if you want a megabass....I'd go to a jdm site.

I'm sure we're going to get hit with some big jumps from a lot of companies this year. I'm into electric guitars and those have blown up in cost, and getting things from pots to strings at times has been a crap shoot.

Hopefully we're not looking at $750 NRX+ and $485 IMX-Pro's in 3 months.

With food prices up 6.5% from Jan to Dec 2021...it's more like a kick up the backside.

"A barber charging $40, much less $50 to cut a man's hair?"

I go to one of those places once a month. A sign in her window says, "WE FIX $15 HAIRCUTS."

I go to the barbers chair in the kitchen.  My wife cuts it for me. I might tip her but she would think I was up to something.

For the hair I have left, anything over $15 is a crime.

My hair cut is pretty straight forward, no need to spend extravagant money on a haircut. I would rather pay her $20 and save the extra $20 or $30 for something I actually wanted. Plus, where I live, any barber crazy enough to even attempt to charge that kind of money for a man's haircut wouldn't be in business very long.
