you've got some real nice gear, i hope your interest is high enough to get out there a few times to put that stuff to work!

Thanks.  Me, too.  Only reason I have so much gear is because fishing in this area sucks so bad.  New and new-2-me gear is what kept me going out.  I actually quit for 23 years because of the poor fishing here.  Shore fishing is limited and highly pressured.  A boat would help.  Something that could be used on the upper Delaware River would be great.  There is a Delaware River forum.  Guys mention 100 fish days (Smallmouth).  Doubt I've caught 100 fish since getting back into it 13  years ago.  Had more than 100 fish a day (mostly panfish) where I'm originally from.  I'd gladly settle for half that today even if they were all panfish.

I fish a lot of tournament's from a kayak and usually bring 5-6 rods depending on the time of year and techniques I plan to use. In winter I often only need 2-3 sticks, while deep summer I have a hard time only loading up 7. Not buying a full size bass boat has saved my wallet from the bait monkey many times.

I have a few. But mostly I'm just a gear/tackle junky who spends every chance I get out on the water. Which is why I don't know why I haven't moved down south after all my years in WI and dealing with iced-over lakes 4 months out of the year. ?

I just recently got a somewhat multipurpose rod. Harold's Lone Star Special 6'9". This will be my jig/worm rod and I'm considering also trying it for shallow water, target casting with spinnerbaits. The reason I might lean towards it as opposed to my other spinnerbait rod is because the lone star special has a fast tip which might serve better for deflection. I'm hoping it can perform particularly well around thick wood.

That makes my 2022 lineup

iRod Cold Stone Swim and Vibrating Jig Rod + REVO Winch (spinnerbait, buzzbait, lipless, spoons)

7' Heavy, fast iRod + REVO Winch - I'm thinking of making this for things like heavy jigs, big worms, big spinnerbaits, and the johnson silver minnow in heavy cover

7'3" Heavy Lew's Carbon with a cheaper Kast King reel = frogging + punching till I wear out the combo

Harold's Lone Star Special + ??? reel = jigs, worms, spinnerbaits

A cheap spinning combo = senkos, devils horse

Should be set!

I fish out of a kayak and try to limit myself to 4 rods.  I sometime replace one bait caster with a spinning set up.                                                                                                                            1.Medium fast Diawa Ardito travel rod, Tatula CT reel. Sunline Defier Armilo line.  Most crankbaits, poppers, lighter jigs, and worms.

2.  Medium heavy fast Diawa Ardito travel rod.  Diawa Tatula CT reel. Sunline Defier Armilo line.  Spinnerbaits, chaterbaits, larger crankbaits, most topwater, any other moving baits.

3.  Medium heavy fast Diawa Ardito. Diawa Coastal SV reel, 40 lbs. JBraid.  Jigs, worms, buzz baits, some crankbaits if snags are bad.

4.  Heavy fast Diawa Tatula rod, Diawa Coastal 200 reel 50 lbs. JBraid.  Punching, flipping, frog, A rig.  Way to light for A rig but does work, I need a new rod.

I occasionally bring a medium spinning rod.  Just when I thought I had everything I needed, I found a new lake, with clear water, I need to expand my spinning gear and learn some finesse techniques.

Here's my lineup:

Spinning:

  • IMX-PRO 852S + Stradic FG 2500HG: the "all purpose" spinning setup, also great when I take someone else fishing
  • NRX 802S JWR (older model) + Vanford 2500HG: drop shot, ned rig, and general finesse combo

Casting:

  • Zodias 6'10 Medium + Curado MGL 71HG: jerkbaits, poppers, Keitech football jigs, blade baits, shaky heads
  • E6X 845C CBR + Chronarch E5 201: cranks and chatterbaits
  • IMX-PRO 844C MBR + Curado MGL 151HG (the reel is currently somewhere in a DHL warehouse in western Germany, should get here by Monday or Tuesday): jigs, 3.8-4.3 Keitechs on Flashy Swimmers, spinnerbaits, t-rigs
  • Expride 7'3XH + Curado K 201HG: frogs, pitching heavy cover, punching

If I'm bank fishing I either just take the MBR and the 802S, keep the one I'm not using strapped to the side of my backpack or add the 6'10 medium once it gets warmer just so I can throw a popper on it. It will also pull double duty with smaller crankbaits. If I'm on the canoe I'll usually bring 4 rods. If I'm out on a boat with a guide I'll take all of them, might even add one of my old Mossybacks with another Curado K.

:lol1: That or maybe I'll just sell the rod.  I bought it on a whim when it was on sale and I had been wanting to check those Techna's out. Of course if I sell it I'll probably just buy another rod and be back in the same boat, no pun intended.

Nothing crazy, but this is what I'm working with at the moment:

Spinning:

Rod: 7'0" M/XF Shimano SLX  |  Reel: Quantum Smoke S3 PT Inshore 25  |  Line: Power Pro Super Slick 10lb mainline to 8lb Trilene Big Game mono leader  |  Technique: Ned rig, bigger panfish presentations, lighter finesse.

Rod: 7'0" M/XF Shimano SLX  |  Reel: Quantum Smoke S3 PT Inshore 25  |  Line: Power Pro Super Slick 15lb mainline to 12lb Trilene Big Game mono leader  |  Technique: Wacky rig, smaller jerkbaits, general finesse.

Casting:

Rod: Dobyns Fury 705CB  |  Reel: SLX DC 151HG  |  Line: Power Pro 30lb mainline to 15lb Trilene Big Game mono leader  |  Technique: Lipless crankbaits.

Rod: 6'10" M/XF Shimano SLX  |  Reel: Shimano SLX 151HG  |  Line: Power Pro 30lb mainline to 12lb Trilene Big Game mono leader  |  Technique: Jerkbaits, smaller topwater, weightless senkos.

Rod: 7'2" MH/XF Shimano SLX  |  Reel: Shimano SLX 151HG  |  Line: Power Pro 40lb mainline to 20lb Seaguar Premier fluoro leader  |  Technique: Jigs, Texas rigs.

Rod: 7'2" H/F Shimano SLX  |  Reel: Shimano SLX 151HG  |  Line: Power Pro 50lb  |  Technique: Frogs, heavy jigs.

Rod: 7'1" MH/F 13 Fishing Defy Black  |  Reel: Shimano SLX 151  |  Line: Power Pro 30lb mainline to 15lb Trilene Big Game mono leader  |  Technique: Chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, bigger topwater.

Rod: 7'2" M/XF Shimano SLX  |  Reel: Abu Garcia Pro Max  |  Line: Power Pro 30lb mainline to 20lb Seaguar Premier fluoro leader  |  Technique: Weightless senko, light Texas rigs, finesse jigs, underspins.

Need to replace the Abu, it was my first baitcaster that I learned on but it's....not enjoyable to use. It's okay for what I'm doing with it now but it's got to go. Will eventually replace the jerkbait reel with an SLX MGL and move the standard SLX over to retire the Pro Max. Other than that, no other imminent goals for the lineup. Just slow upgrades.
