Super User dodgeguy Posted January 9, 2022 Super User Posted January 9, 2022 So has anybody used it ? Is it 8 strand ? Seeing ads all over the place for it. Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted January 9, 2022 Super User Posted January 9, 2022 I dunno about the standard, but they do make what they call '8X' - so I'm thinking the standard is 4-carrier. https://beyondbraid.com/collections/braided-line 1 Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted January 9, 2022 Author Super User Posted January 9, 2022 I see they make a orange high vis 8 strand braid in 2000 yds for $99.00. Quote

They have a flag on the box that says USA company and they brag about it being shipped from Miami but they never say where it is made. If it was made in the US I think they would brag about that to. Am I missing something? 2 Quote

Super User FishTank Posted January 9, 2022 Super User Posted January 9, 2022 I have heard enough bad things about it to steer clear of it but after doing some looking on line, I would run away instead. Just one note..... It says "US Company" on the box. This is a clear BS indicator. If it was "Made in the USA", they would clearly state that instead. I would stick with Sufix, PowerPro, etc... 5 Quote

Super User dodgeguy Posted January 9, 2022 Author Super User Posted January 9, 2022 Wow !!!!! Guess I'm staying with Sufix 832. 2 Quote
schplurg Posted January 10, 2022 Posted January 10, 2022 That "USA Company" is pretty funny. Looks like something you'd see in a translated description from Korean or Chinese on Amazon. "You buy now USA company big fun!" 1 Quote
Trox Posted January 10, 2022 Posted January 10, 2022 I don't trust anything prefixed with "beyond".... If you know you know... 1 Quote

If you are looking to try something different, I have had good luck with Sunline Xplasma. It nothing magical, it's braid. It is better than 832 and 832 is good line. The color fades but slowly. It doesn't show a lot of wear and it cast light lures well. Knot strength is just the same as other lines. I am getting ready to change mine after two years of use just because the color is faded. I do like to use leader for this line with finesse stuff but not for topwater. 1 Quote

Ski Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 I bought a 300 yd filler spool of 30 lb, BEFORE I read all the horrible reviews! Lesson learned. Will just have to see for myself and will post if I ever receive it. 1 Quote
Super User MickD Posted November 21, 2022 Super User Posted November 21, 2022 I have purchased their 4 strand twice, was delivered quickly. lt is a little noisy in the guides, but all 4's are, and it performs well. I have not yet tried their 8 strand. Yes, 4x is 4 strand, 8x is 8 strand. Look at the schematics on their site. Quote

I'm fairly sure their Distance Braid is equivalent to Varivas - it's the first X-braid I tried, and it's still fishing. Here's the skinny on Japanese X-braids - they're all made by Izanas in Japan. They all use Izanas UHS center strand, which is 80% of the line strength. They use extra-fine outer fibers, which are there for toughness and abrasion resistance, and extra-tight weave. The whole thing is fused when an FEP (telfon-base) coating is applied. They've been doing this since 2018, and YGK Oddport was the first X-braid. The Japanese X-braids are made the same, with some differences in fibers (G-Soul adds fluorocarbon outer fibers to increase density), and the FEP coating compositions vary from rubbery to hard. The soft coatings are better for spinning, and the hard coatings better for casting to resist line dig. Photo below borrowed from Izanas Applications web page. Compared to all the braids discussed previously on this thread, X-braid doubles the strength for the same diameter. 1 1 Quote

I tied on a worm hook on and had a 5 Lb. weight hooked to it in the pool. I went to the other end of pool 28 Ft. Using my usual drag setting "snug" I aggressively set the hook. Line held. Then I locked down the drag and again set the hook only to have the weight slide in the pool. Line held up fine. Despite all the negative comments I have found this spool of 30 lb test to be adequate for me to take fishing and give it a REEL test. 2 Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted June 2, 2024 Author Super User Posted June 2, 2024 Any updates ? The line appears to be getting much better reviews now. They also make a no fade version. Quote
