Hi Everyone,

    I'm looking for some information to help me decide on which Vanquish to purchase, I want a 2500 size Vanquish and I was looking at the 2500SXG(6:4:1) but it appears the drag is really weak(3K) compared the the Vanquish 2500SHG(6:0:1) at (9K) drag power, I see that the Vanquish 3000XG(6:4:1) has drag power at (9k). Is the 3000 the same size as the 2500 or is it bigger? Is there anything considerably different between these reels other than gear ratios and drag power? Basically I want a 2500size Vanquish at 6:4:1 and 9K drag, I'm thinking the 3000XG is what I am looking for , I just want to confirm it's the same size as the 2500. Thanks for any input or feedback.

do you want braid or mono?

(this is a C2000 wearing the F6 mono spool)

C3000XG is a great mono spool

@SproDD79

C3000MHG is a bad-ass braid spool.

C3000SDH-HG is even better for small braid and comes with double handle.

Oops - Asian Portal is OOS on both of these.  They had them both last month when my buddy chose a Twin Power C3000MHG.  He accidentally bought two, and I'm buying the second from him when we catch up. .

Drag strength: 9kg = 20#

I figured.

OP:  3kg of drag is enough to fish for any bass, and 9kg is enough for most things.

There is going to be a quiz...

Set the drag correctly and 'fight' the fish properly - 3kg is enough for almost any fresh-water fish. I caught my 12# Northern on a reel that had 3kg (7#) max drag and 8# test line.

Yup, how smooth a drag is is often much more important than "maximum drag" which is often a marketing number. I can turn the star drag on most any BC shut with pliers (I've done it on my frog rod), and claim any number I want.

I have 3000XG with 16lb braid and 10lb leader  and it's amazing.  Smooth, light, lots of power and the drag is buttery smooth. It has more drag power than what I need for the bass I catch.  I just set it accordingly.  No need to tighten it all the way down.

 I'm going to go with the C3000XG, thanks for the feedback everyone.

Sweet....but you'll have to spend a little more at the moment to source one.  Digitaka is nearly wiped out of the vanquish.

Nice.

I have just one note on this reel..... When I received mine and first fished it, it sort of felt just like any other mid range spinning reel but it wasn't until a couple of trips and a few fish in the boat that this reel started to feel better and different from all the rest.  It also is my go to when at the end of a long day of fishing a tournament, I want something that is light and easy on my hands.  I have paired mine with a G. Loomis NRX+ 803S.
