desmobob Posted January 8, 2022 Posted January 8, 2022 The more fold out trays, the better! That was the box of my dreams as a teenager in the '70s. I had to settle on a plastic Woodstream or Plano... can't remember the brand. Three trays on one side and two on the other, IIRC. 2 Quote
Alex from GA Posted January 8, 2022 Posted January 8, 2022 In the early 50s my folks bought me an UMCO tackle box for pitching a no hitter in Little League. Had it for years and don't know how it got away. 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted January 8, 2022 Super User Posted January 8, 2022 The Phillipson tackle box That Bill Dance has 6 trays on each side 10 trays have 11 dividers holding 110 lures if 1 lure is in the divider. I would often put 2 in a divider like 200 or 300 series Bombers and other smaller lures. The bottom tray has 1 divider to hold longer lures or what ever. The bottom of the box is open area for reel boxes, line, tools, pork rind jars or whatever. The big box was handy fishing from aluminum boats with no tackle storage. The trays open individual so you didn’t need all the trays spread out open. Jason Lucas has a photo of a similar box in his book Lucas on Bass after pg 66 photo section lake Mead. Tom 1 Quote
BillP Posted January 8, 2022 Posted January 8, 2022 Wish I had that tackle box. It would add to the look of my 1962 Acecraft runabout. 3 Quote

Super User bowhunter63 Posted January 8, 2022 Super User Posted January 8, 2022 I had a aluminum umco box with a spinner bait rack on the right bottom. 3 trays. Once plastic came out strong they disappeared Quote
Super User Scott F Posted January 8, 2022 Super User Posted January 8, 2022 My biggest memory of those big old tackle boxes was when my dad had one sitting open on the floor of the boat when he brought a good sized pike over the side of the boat. It came unhooked and landed in the middle of the box and went nuts. Lures were flying everywhere, the pike became decorated with plugs. My dad was furious. It was really a mess! 2 1 3 Quote

We have learned not to leave open tackle boxes in the boat. Quote

cyclops2 Posted January 9, 2022 Posted January 9, 2022 Anyone else ever fall into a opened up box with all the trays wide open ? Why my wife carries the Commitment Papers pre signed. But not dated. She is always looking out for me. ☠️ 1 Quote
