Super User TOXIC Posted January 7, 2022 Super User Posted January 7, 2022 As most know Gary Yamamoto Custom Baits was sold and purchased by another company. GSM. They allowed us to release the new logo today. Be advised I will still answer any questions and keep you appraised with new developments from the new owners. #Yamamoto 2 Quote
Skunkmaster-k Posted January 7, 2022 Posted January 7, 2022 Wow don’t hold back. Tell him what you really think. 2 Quote
tander Posted January 7, 2022 Posted January 7, 2022 Don't care what the package looks like as long as the Senkos are the same. 3 1 Quote
Crankin4Bass Posted January 7, 2022 Posted January 7, 2022 I hope they don't try to change the products/make them "better" by using cheaper ingredients or offshore manufacturing. 2 Quote
Super User J._Bricker Posted January 7, 2022 Super User Posted January 7, 2022 What is this the 3rd or 4th packaging change? As long as baits are made the same (and hopefully made in the same location) I don’t care how “modern” the “updated” packaging looks ‘cause they catch fish. 1 Quote
FishinBuck07 Posted January 7, 2022 Posted January 7, 2022 Just let us know when they are planning on changing the price, that way they can be stocked up on before hand!? 1 Quote
Super User TOXIC Posted January 7, 2022 Author Super User Posted January 7, 2022 You guys are a tough crowd. ? I put the new logo up in case you see new advertisements and think it’s a fake company. I have been assured that at present, there’s no plans to change anything. I will for sure let you know if anything changes. My association with the company has always been because I believe in the product and not because of sponsorship or paid promotion. If all that went away I would still be buying them at retail. I bought them at retail long before I was offered a position. I have been offered many opportunities with other plastics manufacturers and have turned them all down. If the new ownership does anything to compromise the product I have come to know, I will be the first to call them out on it. 3 3 Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted January 7, 2022 Super User Posted January 7, 2022 I read 'Yama-motor'...I doubt that was intended effect, though. I always sort of like 'GYCB'....don't think I've ever referred to Senkos (or other GYCB) as 'Yamamotos' Quote

Is there a specific color you have gotten in the past that you can no longer get? I am very basic in my color selections so I have to refer back to the master catalog for colors. Quote

This is just my opinion and you might be right but Yamamoto baits are already at the top of the food chain in price and I can’t see much wiggle room in a price increase that wouldn’t push many over to cheaper knockoffs. Now if they come out with some new designs, then all bets are off. 1 Quote

I just looked at the master catalog for 2021 and none of those colors are offered in any of the Kut Tails. So, GYCB discontinued those colors before the buyout. It’s not been unusual for them to discontinue colors over the years if demand isn’t there. I have some friends in Michigan that use a discontinued color of twin tailed grub so they all get together and make a custom order. I think it used to be 700 bags for a custom color order but that may have changed. Your best bet will probably be to search eBay and other internet suppliers to see if you can find them. Quote

I'm most concern about the manufacturing process and the sourcing of components, Senkos are the most simple bait design there is and other companies have not been able to replicate them. 1 Quote
Last_Cast Posted January 7, 2022 Posted January 7, 2022 Man I hope they don't screw things up.. I guess I'll be stocking up on the "old" stuff just incase Quote
EWREX Posted January 7, 2022 Posted January 7, 2022 i don't mind the logo. they could have at least tried to incorporate some of the older look into it, but as long as the bait's don't change it's fine with me! Quote

Because of the packaging, I associate GYCB as "green" so the blue "BAITS" throws me as well. "GYCB" sounds like a 90's NYC rap group, so it's always going to be a better name 1 Quote

Oh sorry I misunderstood (I wanted them brought back so was listing some hoping you could get the word out) but baits like the kut tail 6.5 have no colors in stock are they discontinued? Quote
