MattinOK Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Hey all, I'm looking for some kind of a depth finder I could use from the shore. I don't have any hopes of a boat soon (sigh), and I've been looking at some that have a little floating transducer with about a 100 foot range, and 100ft depth capacity. Do any of you know of anything similar to this that might help my plight? Quote
zerofivenismo Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Can't help you much, but I once had a HB depth finder that mounted onto a fishing rod with the transducer on the end of the line. Used it a few times and sold it. Found it cumbersome, because I had to carry an add'l combo to my 2 rods that I normally took bank fishing. Plus the 1" screen and Atari2600 like pixels wasn't much help. Best use your money to feed the bait monkey. Quote

zerofivenismo Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Don't let my experience get you down. I only used it a few times and really never gave it a fair shake. Just didn't like the inconvenience of carrying more gear. To each its own. Good luck! Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 25, 2010 Super User Posted March 25, 2010 An arkey style jig will tell you a lot about where you're fishing. Quote
bassmanET Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Have you tried just using a topo map? In Mass. you can go to the Mass wild life & game web site & print topo maps of local lakes & pond that are managed by them. At least this way you can get a general idea of what your fishing and its FREE! Quote
