I was probabally 13 yrs. old the last time i had a knife in my pocket. I haven't the need.

I like keeping a light weight one hand opening knife any time I'm in a boat.  However, I prefer scissors for cutting braid.  I used the Rapala ones for a while, but they don't hold a candle to the $3.75 Cuda Braid Scissors.  The Cudas are much sharper and the handles more comfortable.

I don’t even carry a knife. I have a drawer full of them, but I don’t see why anyone who fishes C&R needs one to fish, other than just to have one in case of emergency.

I don't typically need a fire extinguisher when I'm fishing but I'm glad it's there

It used to be that when I was out fishing and I found that I needed something that I didn’t have, I would add it to my backpack for the next trip. Eventually my backpack got really heavy and it got hard to find anything because there was so much junk in there. So I started limiting what I pack to the bare necessities. There have been times since then when I have needed things, but those are the rare occasions. The rare inconvenience is outweighed by the everyday convenience.

I use what I believe is a Kershaw Cyro. It's a 2.75" half serrated blade with spring assist. I got it as a cheap EDC knife (<$40) but it's held up surprisingly well considering what I've put it through.

A lot of good suggestions so far.. If I was looking at something solely for fishing I'd probably lean toward a Leatherman.
