Costa is having a huge sale and I have some gift cards so I am thinking about picking up a pair of polarized Costa sunglasses. I havent looked into whether they have different lenses for different things, I just saw tons of models that said polarized. What are peoples experience with them?

I have 2 pair and love them. I have a pair of 580p blue mirrored for everyday wear and a pair with 580G green mirrored for fishing. 580p are plastic lenses and 580g are glass. The plastic are lighter but scratch easier. The glass lenses are clearer but heavier and more expensive.Best thing to do is go to a dealer who sells them and try them on before you order because every frame fits differently.

The G is for glass lens and the P is for polycarbonate lens. Glass is higher quality but it costs more and is heavier. It can shatter too. If you haven’t ever had a glass lens pair of shades, it’s a good idea to go try some at a retailer as @LonnieP mentioned.

I have a pair of fantails with green mirror polycarbonate lenses. I use them in sunny and cloudy conditions.  I’ve had them for 3 seasons now. I wish I would have been using them a lot longer.

I would personally go with the polycarbonate lenses - that's the same material used in safety glasses, or safety lenses in prescription glasses...which I have.

This is where I found them on sale. I know nothing about them except they are good quality shades, so I dont know how to spot a fake. This site is giving me weird vibes though. I dont care if they are the 2018 models, I just want them to be authentic.

I have several Costa’s but the copper silver mirror is my go to for fishing…super versatile from sunny to cloudy, great contrast when sight fishing.  I have had both glass and poly and I much prefer glass.  They stay in their case in the boat and I use a lanyard when wearing.  They are slightly heavier but less than a typical glass lense…not enough for me to notice.

Glass is WAY better....until you catch a muskie lure to the lens when poly wins.  Mine are all glass...

Google Vimgvk which is the name that pops up on the link you provided and look at the top results.  I think I would be careful if I were you.  It doesn’t say where they are located but based on their delivery options, I’m guessing somewhere overseas.

I see the accept PayPal and they are very big on anti fraud and scams. So that makes me feel better. Plus I'll be using a visa prepaid gift card so no actual account info.

Same for me. By far my favorite lens and mirror combo. I wear them in any conditions; when the rain starts on a cloudy day I reach for them when driving. Amazing how much glare they cut out

Do what you think is best.  Just remember that Costa’s are top of the line glasses and I would be leary of anyone offering them at 50% off.  I’m not big on companies that when searched, the top hits refer to them as scams.  Did you find their address?  What about a customer service number?  Can you find anything about the company?  In my experience, when something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.  I hope I don’t sound harsh…I’m just cautious and hate to see others taken advantage of.

Thank you for the sound advice. I was 75% convinced not to buy from them but this put me over the top. I'm going to research best polarized glasses $50 and under now.

I would not buy another pair of Costas since their warranty changed. My last pair of glass lense I bought, the rubber on the bridge of the nose fell off completely after a couple years and they will do nothing for me.  I believe they were bought out and that's why the change happened.

Calcutta glasses are good for the price. Around $20 a pair

They are owned by a company called COGS, which owns Native Eyewear that bass pro sells.

580P in Green Mirror for general purpose. There's an awful lot of stuff flying my direction when I'm fishing, and I've taken a frog in the forehead from another anglers early hookset. Hard enough to break the skin. Get the poly.

I know you have moved on from Costa, but I will say this about ANY pair of sunglasses you intend to buy. Go try them on!!!! I have owned 8 or 9 pair of Oakleys and 4 or 5 pair of Costas. I can tell you from experience that I didn't try some of them on before I bought them and I hated them. It sucks dropping $150 on a pair of glasses and you hate the way they fit. Especially if you are wearing them 6-8 hours on the water.

I love my costas but to my knowledge Bajio Sunglasses is a new company started by people that started Costa after they sold the company. Not sure how true this is but a local Tackle Shop that sells their sunglasses told me this. They also have glass lenses.
I still wear costas and the best lens in my opinion around is the green 580g. Also the the Silver sunrise Glass lens is money in low light.

I have a couple pair of Costas and while I like them, the Suncloud polarized glasses that are a little over $50 are not far behind in quality.  The Suncloud glasses are my everyday driving glasses but I often wear them fishing.  If you are fishing ultra-clear Great Lakes water then I can see getting the Costas but otherwise I'd get the Sunclouds and spend the $150+ you save on other fishing gear.

Completely agree.  That's exactly what I did.  I went to a retailer and tried on multiple models with both the polycarbonate and glass lenses in various colors.  Then I bought the ones I liked on Amazon for half the price.

I don't think the associate cared for it when I told them I just wanted to try them on, but I said I'd buy them there if they price matched the online cost.  They didn't, so that was that.

Its a shame that the site is most likely a scam, at those prices I would have bought quite a few of them.

Yes, 100% legit.  Comes with a hard case, lens cleaning cloth, and warranty.

I'd buy them at a retailer if they'd price match.  I see some fantails on Amazon with the 580p lenses for 83 bucks.  That's a steal.
