Well I added another lefty to my aresenal. I bought a serious cranking reel from Lews at Sportsmans Outfitters for 159. Normally 199 elsewhere. It will be a while until I fish it swing as I am recovering from covid with Blood clots in my lungs. The reel has a nice long handle and 6.2 gears. It has a externally adjustable 6 pin brake and a spool that holds 160 /12.I love all my Lews products and I'm sure I'll be having fun with this one as I recover. If covid teachs me one thing it's that I need to go fishing more.

Grats on the new reel and I hope you recover soon. Blood clots on the lungs sound extremely scary.

Is it the new one?  If so, very nice.....

I took one of these apart over break.  I guy clean reels for, once in a blue moon, bought one at BPS and wanted me to look it over.  I was really impressed.  I am not the biggest Lew's fan but this reel fixed a few minor things that I find annoying> knobs, drag star assembly, cast control knob, spool polish, etc.. One thing I didn't care for is the pull pin on side plate.  Push and pull the wrong way and the side plate will bounce off.  The breaks are also a little different than the other centrifugal brake systems.  I am not sure how to feel about them just yet but it looks like they improved it from the previous generation and I really can't say yet what makes it different.

All in all, I think this reel is the best one I have seen from Lew's yet and for $160, its a steal.  Enjoy and I hope the Covid goes away soon.  I have had several family members and coworkers deal with it and it is no fun.

I think I am going to give one a try.  I have been ordering from another site as of late and have had fantastic service. I am waiting to hear back from them to see if they will price match it.

Good luck with the clots, that sounds like a lot of no fun. That's a nice reel, I'm just not a deep crank guy so that's the only reason I haven't got one of those.

Most of my reels are Shimano, but I have added a few Lews to my line up, they have been impressive to say the least. Speedy recovery dodge, hopefully you will be able to crank out some jumbo largemouth out of Titicus with the new reel soon.

Times 2.  When I had mine, the doctor said if a clot got in the wrong spot in my lungs, I'd suffocate to death before someone could save me even if I was already in the hospital.  Don't know where it moved to, but many years ago my youngest aunt (36 at the time) died while in the hospital when one broke loose in her leg.

I wish you a speedy recovery and hope you never get another blood clot.

Look forward to a review of the reel once you've been able to fish with it.

Looks like mine

I went out casting mine in the back yard. It took 2 minutes to dial it in and the crankbaits were flying !!!!

I am looking forward to trying it out.  It's 15 degrees outside in my neck of the woods.  I think I am going to wait until it warms up a bit.  It feels good in hand though.

They say crank is 95 mm but it looks slightly bigger compared to my other Lew's 95 mm. That's ok because it helps with big cranks. Probably won't be on the water with it until March.

Ya, I noticed the handle looked big when I compared it to my Curado K.  The reel it's self is slightly bigger too but if feels good.  The handle is similar in size to the one on the Metanium XG. The larger handle on the BB1 feels more natural based on its larger size.  Yours should be great for crankbaits but I have the 7.5:1 and plan to use it for topwater and jerkbaits.  It will be heavily used this season or at leasts that's the plan.

I must say, I’m typically a Shimano reel guy but am following this thread closely. When I first saw pictures a few months back I thought to myself, “now that is a sharp looking reel”.

I just might have to pick one up.
