I'm from Southeast Texas and down here, tubes aren't really a thing for my group. I saw a great YouTube of some guys who fished tubes on Lake Conroe, my home Lake. I've always thought of the Midwest to the Great Lakes as tube lure central for smallies. So I figured what the heck, if guys are catching fish on Lake Conroe, I'll try them. I don't really finesse fish much, but this catch has changed my mind. I caught 7 fish total. In fact, I'm buying more tubes. Today I caught this fish on Black and Blue flake and Green Pumpkin. This fish was caught on a Bass Pro Shops tube and tube jighead. The specs on this fish was 23" and 7.5lbs (almost my PB). You know the funny thing is she didn't fight very hard and was barely hooked. However, when she jumped i knew she was a pig! I'm a strong believer in tubes now, and I'll eat crow.  I will warn you, when you hook up on a fish, they tend to choke it. I probably throat hooked 3 fish today. Make sure you have a good set of pliers.

Tubes in the winter are a must for you Texas and guys who live in the southern states. Give it a try!!!

Fishing the Susquehanna River near Owego NY today. Air temperature was 40-50 degrees, mix of clouds and sun, not much wind. Water temperature was 36 degrees. Caught 3 smallmouth on tubes, between 1 1/2 lbs and 3 lbs 2 oz. Pretty slow day, but still successful, and a great way to finish out the year. Happy New Year to all.
