That makes two of us!  But yes, it's been very mild this far in Western PA.

We've had 50s as a high for over a week. Been getting limits of dinks with an occasional real one mixed in. Got 6 today, square bill and the one that won't be mentioned, all shallow.

I took a couple of 20 minute breaks at work a few days this past week and caught some small bass  off our docks each time. The shad were blowing up (getting chased) everywhere and there was more than one big time splash, but nothing big was biting.

I think I may head out tomorrow after work. I'm tempted to pull my kayak out of storage. The bad news is both my Curado DC and Expride are dur to arrive next week - and it's going to be cold and rainy all week.

You guys didn't have to work today?  On the plus side my 53 plus miles to work resulted in a record 48 minute drive thanks to the absence of traffic this morning.

OP.  I'm not surprised you didn't catch anything if fishing from shore on that lake.  Unless you have better areas to fish from than I do.  You probably do since I've never seen anything like that on the water in the area I fish at.

I haven’t worked the week between Christmas and New Years in a decade

I hit the banks today as the air temps were in the 40’s. This is what I found…

At least I got to play with my new combo, Revo SX baitcaster on a St Croix Bass X  rod. Bouncing lures off hard water…thank goodness people were recovering from their New Years celebrations. If anyone saw me they would have thought I was nuts.

I've caught so many bass over the years fishing the open areas of partially frozen over lakes like that one. Mine aren't frozen yet, so had to go out again today and try and get that first 2022 bass of the year. Managed a handful of bites, landing several, though nothing near as big as yesterday. Mission accomplished though...

Enjoy that combo. That reel is fantastic if you happen to have gotten a good one. I bought one last year on an impulse and liked it so much that I ordered a second one the next day. The second one couldn’t keep the side plate on for more than a single cast and I drove to bass pro and returned it. The first one hasn’t missed a beat and I love it! It’s on my vendetta rod setup for chatterbaits and jigs.

Thanks. It’s been great so far. I have had the reel for a few months, the rod is brand new.

I read all the side plate issue reviews before buying. I have not had a problem with it. Casts like a dream and far, caught lots of fish with it. I am happy.
