Super User Columbia Craw Posted December 28, 2021 Super User Posted December 28, 2021 Had surgery this morning to extricate another kidney stone. They had to get it out of the kidney. This malady has been a curse to me. This is number three this year. It makes me want to listen to Jimmi Hendrix song, Stone Free. At least I can rest for a few days. Beats shoveling snow. 4 7 Quote
Super User Bird Posted December 28, 2021 Super User Posted December 28, 2021 Wow, doesn't sound fun at all. Had an uncle that saved all his stones in a jar, made me tremble. Hope this can be remedied so it doesn't continue. Quote
Global Moderator Solution TnRiver46 Posted December 29, 2021 Global Moderator Solution Posted December 29, 2021 I think I would opt for shoveling snow! Glad they got it buddy, that sounds awful. My aunt had problems with those things for years 1 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 29, 2021 Global Moderator Posted December 29, 2021 My wife had one and said it was right up there with childbirth. She was able to pass hers thankfully. Have people at work that get them and swear they're dying if they've never had them before. Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted December 29, 2021 Super User Posted December 29, 2021 I saw the title and was totally mislead...? @Columbia Craw, glad you're feeling better. 2 Quote

Super User Choporoz Posted December 29, 2021 Super User Posted December 29, 2021 I get a couple a year. Only the first bad one a few years ago put me in the hospital. Had one about 3 months ago that was so bad, the pain had me vomiting for an hour. Mine all pass on their own. It has gotten so I know the cycle well. The side/back pain on the first day is horrible....it subsides within about 12-18 hours as the stone starts moving. Second day is marked by repeated sharp, relatively short stabbing pains as it makes its way down. I keep some Percocet handy for Day 1, and grin and bear it. Just crossing my fingers that I don't get one that can't make the trip on its own. 1 Quote
Skunkmaster-k Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 I hope you never get another one. Son of a gun those rocks ain’t no fun. Quote

cyclops2 Posted December 30, 2021 Posted December 30, 2021 Not enough water every day allows all kinds of sediment to build up there. It varies with diet and the persons PH. They come in many colors. Mine was coal black with pointy spikes all over it. I crawled from car to house bed. Rescue squad hand carried me to stretcher then to the E R. I was hallucinating & dripping sweat............It is nothing compared to a woman in childbirth. Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted December 30, 2021 Super User Posted December 30, 2021 I've passed about 35 in my life. Passed one on Xmas morning this year, an hour or so of discomfort. This year, week of Thanksgiving I passed a whopper, 7mm. My wife actually took me to the er, I threw up for 4 hours nonstop. I drank a gallon of water and was barely dribbling out blood red urine. I ended up passing it while being admitted. I have a couple things I've used over the years that have helped. The first is called stonebreaker, its an herb and breaks up stones, you just need to be consistent with it, and I wasn't. The other is something that has helped me pass them once I know they're coming. Drink tons of water, and every 15 mins or so, jump straight up and come down stiff legged. Do that 4 or 5 times every 15 minutes, it definitely helps them move along. 1 Quote

Super User Bird Posted December 30, 2021 Super User Posted December 30, 2021 Wow, after following this thread, starting to think bass fishing is directly related to kidney stones. Had no idea so many suffer from this. Have to admit, several recent posts sent me into the fetal position trying to imagine the pain......isn't there a cure or a solution ? Quote
