Scorcher214 Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 Ive been doing jiujitsu for a bit and had some Muai thai and kickboxing training too. Im not stepping in the cage anytime soon, still a white belt(gotten past the whitebelt-spaz stage??). Maybe one day. Ive sparred before and not gonna get spazzy there either. But if anybody is in the Alabama- Georgia area and is down for some fishing and jiujitsu. Holler. My stand up game is trash so I'm pulling gaurd. Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted December 28, 2021 Global Moderator Posted December 28, 2021 I sparred with a former gold glove boxer once. He hit me and it hurt………. Hahaha my “rassling” days are way behind me but I’m down for the fishing part! i do have a friend or two into jujitsu, they live up toward the northeast corner of TN Quote
huZZah Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 As a former black belt I limit myself to beating my 8 year old green belt to the ground. That’s right son. Dads still got it. 12 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 29, 2021 Global Moderator Posted December 29, 2021 I do a little bit in DT training at work, but then when someone who really knows what they're doing gets paired with me, I'm reminded that I've learned enough to go with the average Joe on the street. One of my LTs has sparred and trained with Royce Gracie quite a bit, sparred with former Chief's DE Tamba Hali, and the guy is probably 5' 7" maybe 175lbs? I had the misfortune of being paired against him in training once, 0/10 would not recommend. I've had to hold my own against much bigger guys than myself in a real world situation, but when they have no technique I'm alright. Trying to get ahold of that guy and keep him from twisting me into a shape I'm not to be in was impossible. 3 Quote

I tried my best to walk away but he layed his hands on me. I'm not sure how many times he hit me but it was alot but on my 3rd connecting blow he came to his senses threw his hands up. He figured out with 30 extra pounds I brought more power in the equation and he didn't like getting hit with no gloves or mouth piece. 2 Quote

Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted December 29, 2021 Global Moderator Posted December 29, 2021 I’ve sparred once and won’t do it again! I am a giant sissy (there I said it). I’ve never been in a real fight and at my age and the choices I make I doubt I ever will be. The one time I sparred was in high school and we had my baseball team over to my house the night before a Saturday tournament for a cookout. Someone had boxing gloves in their car so we said what the heck, but only sparring. Well a couple guys with little man syndrome didn’t want to spar but full on box! I had a headache for what seemed like a week, my eyelids were black and blue, and another kid got sucker punched in the back of the head in the reset button so down he went. The assistant coach who was a college freshman was there and stopped the shenanigans. Needless to say the head coach the next morning wasn’t to impressed with the way some of looked and wasn’t too pleased with some of our play either. ??? I never want to get punched in my pumpkin head again. 1 2 Quote

Sadly I rarely win those battles. 1 Quote
