Scorcher214 Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 Looking to re-up my arsenal, and I loved my daiwa advantage BC, paired it with a 7'M rod and it was great for lighter lures. On ebay I can get one for 100-120 with maybe some cosmetic damage. Ive been out of the game for minute so I'm not sure whats really offered out there these days. But is there another reel as smooth as the Daiwa advantage for the price? Am I over hyping my first nice reel for nostalgia purposes? Quote
swhit140 Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 I had a couple of those reels before, they are a good reel back in the days. I would hold out if you really want that exact reel, you can find them on Ebay for around $50-60 from time to time. The Daiwa Tatula CT & Tatula 100-300 series are good reels and can pick them up around $75-125. Tatula CT & Tatula 100-300 series have different cosmetics & slightly differ on some gear ratio versions. I have several of the overseas/import models so they have different finishes that US reels and are a little more expensive. Cosmetics/finishes changed around 2020 on the domestic Tatula CT versions. 4 Quote
Scorcher214 Posted December 29, 2021 Author Posted December 29, 2021 @swhit140Hmm 50-60 would be a hell of a deal, I'd buy 2 right now at that price point. Would you say a tatula is ~40-60 dollars better than the advantage? Quote

Would you say a tatula is ~40-60 dollars better than the advantage? I'd probably say main difference is frame size/width/T-Wing and a bit of lighter reel with the Tatula CT. I don't think the T-Wing makes a difference in my opinion. The Team Advantage are a great reel regardless, they do have a higher bearing count than the Tatula CT. But I believe they were only made with 6:3:1 ratio If you like those Team Advantage reels keep a I out for decent used ones and clean them up/serviced and they should do well. Quote

Most of mine are older models purchased used. Big fan of the TD-Z 105H reels. The original Fuego is also a favorite. TT review of it. http://tackletour.com/reviewdaiwafuego.html I had to wait a few years for the Pixy models to come down to where I could afford them. You might want to give one of the older Alphas reels a try. Really enjoy using mine. I don't know how much you are willing to spend, but if you'd like to try a new model, the Tatula Elite ($239.99) would make a good choice. TW has the Zillion SV TW on sale for $229.99 (MSRP $309.99). I'd probably already have one on the way if I wasn't already swamped. People often say you can't have too many...rods or reels...but I'd have to disagree. 1 Quote

You'd have to buy a current Zillion platform to get the build elements of the Advantage. If you're touchy about weight, the Advantage is a tad heavier than the latest stuff at about an ounce heavier than a Curado K. 1 Quote
