Oh they will beat 90% of the schools, not sure about the top dogs though. Probably average 9-3, 10-2 most years. Interested to see how they align the conference. The pod system seems to be an awesome way to do it.

Maybe. I doubt that’s as certain as you’re thinking tho. The SEC is quite a deep conference with lots of talent, not top heavy like you’re thinking . It just so happens the top teams are also tops in the nation every year so it appears that way

Miss St was 7-5 and they are TERRIBLE!!!! OU beat Tech like 52-21 or something.

But you are right, probably not certain, I just know the middle half of the SEC is not very good. They rely on the same 4-5 teams to carry the conference year in and year out. We always hear how they "beat up on each other", no the bad teams beat up on each other and get destroyed by the top teams. We will have to wait a few years to find out for sure though.

OU recruiting line: ‘We’re a mediocre team in a GREAT conference. You’ll get to be seen getting beaten down on national TvV at least a few times a year…We moved over so we could have more money.’

I'm afraid that could be the case. It could have been "We're a GREAT team in a mediocre conference with a really good chance to get in the CFP every year"

But it will always be "At least we are better than Tennessee" :)

Good. And let State continue to be bad into 2022!

I don't know about that. Tennessee is making strides and they could be a contender for the SEC East before we know it.

OU has a very strong program which will now be attracting the 4 and 5 star players from across the nation to show off their skills in the SEC for both Texas and OU.

Packed to the hills stadiums when OU comes to town which translates into $$$$$. ADs like this.

Why not. Plus the fact that being in the SEC will attract the top players in the country to OU and to Texas.

See now that’s the spirit! Welcome to a real conference! We’ll see in a few years and you’ll see better facilities and players with the new $$$.

That’s a statement that should put you about 8th in a conference that you think is weak. Vanderbilt has been able to make that claim several times in recent history

Well, a win is a win. Defense surprised me in the first half and showed me what I expected in the second. Looking forward to the future.

BTW, they won't finish 8th in the SEC for a long time. They may not win it for a long time either. But 8th will not happen for much longer.

It all starts with recruiting.  If we count Texas and Oklahoma as part of the SEC this is where Oklahoma ranked in recruiting in the conference in recent years according to rivals.com.

2018 - 4

2019 - 5

2020 - 9

2021 - 6

2022 - 10 so far

It doesn’t take much in the way of bad luck to end up in 8th place.

Congratulation on the bowl win.  I was cheering for OU even though they’re not officially in the family yet.  ?

Look at where Texas ranks in recruiting and tell me how well that has worked out for them. You can get a 5 star on campus, but you better be able to coach them up. That clearly isn't happening at Texas.

What a game!!! A couple take a way's

1. I'm not sure who has gained more weight since 2000, me or Josh Heupel

2. They have got to figure out what to do about the fake injuries

I have always been reluctant to blame a game’s outcome on officiating, but Tennessee was clearly robbed of an obvious touchdown in overtime.  Runner was not down, forward motion was not stopped, and there was no whistle before ball crossed goal line.  It’s one thing to get beaten by your opponent;  it’s another to get beaten by call that could have easily been corrected.

It’s ok, we didn’t really deserve to win giving up 5,674 yards . Last time we played in the music city bowl in 2010 they made up a new rule after they realized they screwed us, known as the Dooley rule. But yes terrible call, and it wasn’t the only one that game

They can’t do a darn thing about fake injuries , everyone knows that’s how to beat huepels offense

We’ve had so many 5 star basketball players that can’t shoot I’ve lost count

I think the "injured" player should have to sit out the entire drive. It's ridiculous. That one guy from Purdue looked at the sideline and went down. If anything is unsportsmanlike then it's that.

That happened to us every game we played this entire season. The one player from Purdue was “injured” at least 6 times during the course of the game . Also if you notice they substitute multiple players every time it happens and it’s usually on second down, sometimes third

Ole miss was by far the worst, I think they had over 20 injury timeouts. After the plays were over, players would be standing straight up and just fall over like someone shot them from the roof (nobody talked about it though, they just focused on someone chucking a bottle of mustard on the field for about a month )

Georgia did it to us a couple times while up by like 2-3 touchdowns

I can think of a few rule changes…unless an injury results from an illegal play by the opposing team, an injured player may not be substituted for until the next stoppage of game clock, and timeouts cannot be used to stop clock. An injured player cannot return until there is a change of possession, the beginning of the second half or the beginning of an overtime period. With these changes, you could get rid of the 10-second runoff rule.

Yes, there would be times a player suffers a real injury, but losing him for a few plays is just the consequence of past abuses.

Sounds like a good plan to me. Plus, if he is actually injured, he is going to miss multiple plays. I just think it's very Bush league.

I think when the guy is walking off the field 100% healthy with the training staff, someone should just take his legs out.

he wanted to be injured, right?

dirty play you say? So is faking injuries

Ok that all sounds great but they have this one rule where the play isn’t over until the whistle blows and they didn’t even enforce that tonight . No way in heck they will enforce injury rules

It was a painful game to watch and not because I felt sympathy for all the poor injured players. ?

Everyone does the fake injure thing but it’s getting out of hand.  I think a rule change is coming.  Sit out for the rest of the series and no substitutions unless the other team subs or someone calls timeout.  I would add another rule that if a player goes down 3 times he needs to leave the field for the rest of the game and go to a local hospital for a full checkup including a prostate exam.
