May just be my favorite pro bass angler right now. I first became aware of Seth back in 2016 from his comeback tournament on the Mississippi river. Up til that point he had a very lackluster career and even said he wasn't sure if he could hang. Then he goes to the Mississippi and drops a 2nd place. Next tournament he has a huge win on Mille Lacs Lake for the AOY championship. I became a huge fan..who doesn't love the underdog story?

Fast forward 5 short years, he has become super consistent and this year he captured the 2021 Bassmaster angler of the year in dominant fashion. Then I watch a recap video he did for *** in which he states he caught most of his fish this year flipping a tube, throwing a shallow crank or winding a spinnerbait..never catching a bass he said in water deeper than 8 feet. Doing it against a field glued to live scope after people said if you don't fish that way you can't be competitive.

Dudes flipping tubes, flipping jigs, winding spinnerbaits and cracking skulls. Doesn't get more old school or more bassy than that. All the while rocking a bad a#$ mustache. Anyhow I enjoy everything he puts out and I hope he has a long successful bass career.

Latest BassU live featured Seth. It's up on YouTube.

He's the 'home town hero' here - when he's not on the BASS trail, he's fishing Tonka...my lake.

I remember this in great detail @DitchPanda. By his own admission, Seth was struggling to stay competitive and was spending too much of his own finances doing so. I knew he could dominate at Mille Lacs if he could just qualify, and he needed a top 5 finish in LaCrosse the week before to do it. I think he finished 2nd at LaCrosse which sent him to Mille Lacs. He dominated with over 75 pounds of brown bass in 3 days. Of course being from Minnesota, everyone wanted him to win too. I went to the weigh in on day 2 in 2016 and on day 1 in 2017. He didn’t do quite as well in 2017 because the other anglers started figuring out that lake.

Fast forward to the last couple seasons. I think he’s been very consistent and competitive. What did he finish like 8th overall in the AOY a couple seasons ago? And sure enough he won last year. I met him a couple times over the years too. He has a big role with Omnia Fishing which is about 4 miles from my current house.

I will fully admit that I am not a big fan of his hair. I wish he would get a haircut. I’ve seen his boat on Mille Lacs a couple times. It usually has a big rapala logo on the side.

Just seems like a cool guy..could just be your buddy that happens to be better at catching bass than everybody else. Said after he won he was gonna celebrate at a local dive bar.

sorry for being so fabulous GIF

He's not a follower, that's for sure. Guy does his own thing and makes it work, and I can appreciate that about him. Haven't paid any attention to tournaments the last few years but I see him all over fishing ads so I assume he's been doing well.

I'll just say this Seth is by far my favorite Pro angler. The guy is down to earth, in his youtube vid's he doesn't try to sell you on anything, unlike some guys.

I root for him every time. Re: hair, that's what makes Seth unique. ?

He’s one of the best if you watch his youtubes. His hair is also awesome. Even though you’d only see me rockin that type of mullet at a Halloween party now a days. I did, a long, long time ago keep a similar type hair style back when I was about 12, though. Not exactly, but close to that when it was in style back then.

I'm a huge Seth fan. You will never meet a nicer, more humble guy! When the B.A.S.S. (the real major league of Bass fishing) Elite's fished Cherokee Lake in East TN, I was working part time at Bass Pro Shop. Seth was looking around the fishing Dept so I greeted him, calling him by name. He was genuinely surprised that I knew who he was. He needed some gloves so I took him to where he needed to be. My only regret was not getting an autograph or a picture.

He's always ripping a dart and the camera pans to him and then away from him. Wonder who smokes more, him or Thrift? LOL

BTW, he seems like a guy you would want at your BBQ.
