LCG Posted December 18, 2021 Posted December 18, 2021 I was going through some of my tackle stuff and was just wondering how long can you store fishing line (braid, mono, coploymer)? Also I have bought a ton of spinnerbaits that I really have faith in, but wondering how long the rubber/plastic skirt keeper will last? I recall buying some booyah spinnerbaits awhile ago that the rubber keeper was disenegrated when I opened the package. Everything stored indoors and away from direct sunlight. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted December 18, 2021 Super User Posted December 18, 2021 Braid, pretty much forever. FC, several years but knot check it if you've got a question. Mono - I use new every season or two - it's cheaper. As for skirt bands, just drop a small zip tie right beside the band and then cut off the band. That zip tie will last at least a season and you can do the same thing again when needed. A-Jay 2 Quote

But if they get compromised, that's seems like a pretty simple solution. I only tend to lose 1 or 2 a year, so they should last awhile. 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted December 18, 2021 Super User Posted December 18, 2021 FC, Copolymer and monofilament line should be stored in a cool place away from sunlight or severe heat or cold. Braid will last indefinitely out of direct sunlight. Sunlight UV and ozone unzips rubber used to make skirt bands. As AJay mentioned 3/32 wide small black zip ties work good to replace skirt bands or wire tie them before cutting off the rubber band. Tom 1 Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted December 19, 2021 Super User Posted December 19, 2021 Bands rot. Copper floral wire doesn’t and is easy to use. Quote
