I haven't had any issues with FedEx, but the USPS and Amazon are both really ticking me off lately.

I live in a rural area and have to drive 90 minutes to go to any major store other than Walmart, so I buy a lot of things off of Amazon. Part of that is the convenience of having items delivered to my door.

But here the USPS will not deliver any large or heavy packages. They leave you a note telling you to go to the post office and pick it up. A few weeks ago I ordered a boxspring far my son (the metal kind that you have to assemble) and the USPS refused to deliver it. I called Amazon, they refunded my money and told e to order it again.

Now for those of you that don't know, Amazon uses an algorithm to determine the carrier and according to them, no one has the power to override that.  A few years ago I had to order the same item 4 times because the USPS would not deliver it and on the 4th time UPS was the carrier and it was delivered.

After ordering the boxspring a second time they same thing happened - USPS would not deliver it. This time Amazon called the post office and they said they would deliver it. Sure enough, they did. They also dropped of the one that was recalled the week before.

But wait - there's more.

Supply chain shortages are really hurting the hotel industry. It can be impossible to get hotel soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. So after my supplier had yet another delay, I ordered two cases of each off of Amazon as our inventory is extremely low. And sure enough, Amazon sent it USPS and they refuse to deliver. This stuff won't fit in my little Genesis Coupe, and for liability reasons we don't send hourly associates out on errands for the hotel. So now I have to contact Amazon again.

The thing is, all Amazon has to do is tweak their algorithm so they don't send oversized or heavy packages via UPS. It's an easy code tweak.

Here's another example of FedEx's fine operation they run. Ordered a new softball bat last week. Got an email with a tracking number, coming from FedEx, oh GREAT! Ships from Missouri, goes to Illinois, then makes it's way to Texas on Thursday with a scheduled delivery date of Friday. Good deal. Shows up in Oklahoma early Friday morning. Sits there a day, then back to Texas. The last scan was at 5:50 this morning and it is still in Texas.

I am now wondering if my window A/C will be here tonight, via FedEx. Had to find this thread ;)

I could see a more roundabout route being cheaper sometimes, I guess. But check this out...

I ordered something from Walmart, I forget what. Well I can get free shipping for $35 order or more, so I looked up some small cheap jerkbaits they sell. I've been wanting them anyways. I ordered several different colors. Hey they catch fish!

So comes time to checkout and they tell me the 8 items I ordered for a total of $37 will arrive in 6 different shipments on 6 different days!

I'm like "How the flippin flip is this saving them money?" Jerkbaits are $2 each, some arrived 1 at a time! I'm sure they came from different locations, but forcing me to spend more seems to have cost them money this time.

But that's not the end. One shipment I tracked from Texas to Arizona, then north toward me through Bakersfield....oh wait, they're at a FedEx facility in Montana now! And they should be here tonight in Cali. Not!

Next day I get a notice - "your shipment is delayed". I already know, even your message is delayed! Haha

Happened to multiple shipments all from guess who. I expect issues sometimes but wow.

Anyways, after 6 days I check on my A/C with FedEx tracking:

04-06-2022

Shipment information sent to FedEx - 11:13 pm

That's it. I emailed the seller and they answered promptly.

At least it's been cold here so I don't need the A/C just yet. Can't wait to see what happens next! :)

Update to this post:

The seller said FedEx picked up the A/C.

FedEx said they'd never heard of it.

So I got a refund and got a darned nice used one for 1/5 the price. I can handle a $50 gamble. It's not like newer A/Cs are going to last long anyways.

2 days ago, the fedx guy basically Threw a package in the middle of my front lawn. We have a 3' fence, with 2 gates that are Easily accessible, but apparently he was to dang Lazy to walk 10 more feet to get to them and put the package on our front porch. Why are these guys so dam lazy.?

The problem I have with FedEx is the packages never come on time. I tracked a rod I ordered last week on Friday and it said out for delivery. Friday night comes and no Rod so now tracking says delivery on Saturday. Here it is Sunday and tracking says rod is in North Carolina and pending delivery date.

I guess if I'm going to tell the bad, then I better tell the good. I ordered a new soft toss net late Tuesday night. Got tracking info on Wed that said it was shipping via FedEx and coming from Mississippi. It was on my front porch when I got home from work on Thursday.

I got the opposite 'problem' with Fed-Ex.

Example - ordered a TM, was shipped Fed-Ex. Original delivery date was the 18th...it arrived on the 15th.

Our Fedex packages usually go through two sorting facilities. One is over a hour away and they usually arrive a day or two after arriving there. The other is much closer but it will sit on the truck at least three days before the attempt delivery even if you paid for next day shipping.

I would say I prefer UPS, but any package that goes through Shrewsbury MA has a 30% chance of never arriving at all. They should probably close that facility.
