I have tried many ways to store them in the boat.  I haven’t been satisfied with any of them so I am going back to the Plano type box.  If they are stored together opened and more than one color in the same compartment, will the colors bleed?  I have 12 compartments and 15 colors.

I've read somewhere on these forums that the Plano plastic in the boxes reacts with the Elaztech, and can make them gooey.  Maybe someone can confirm, but I store mine in the bags in a speed bag.

They aren’t Plano (pvc) boxes just that type for an example that most can relate to.

I leave Elaztech baits in the bags.  Those go into a tall Edge Box or a speed bag.

Light color with dark color, they will breed eventually but not as bad as regular plastic. I have white mix with dark blue and it become sky blue.
Just like the one mentioned keep in its own bag is the way to go. I do have some that stick together but never have one that I cannot separate.

So they will bleed.  Thanks for your answer.

I have seen so many stories on here about Elaztech and other plastics having problems when stored together I won't but any Elaztech baits. From what I have seen and heard the only safe way to store them is in their original packaging.

I put a bunch in a polycarbonate box in my truck for a year, including through a texas summer. The box was unharmed and so were the baits. I'm pretty sure the plano edge boxes will do OK with them too, but I haven't tested that.

@Jig Man theres a post around here somewhere about the specific SKUs from flambeau that are polycarbonate that are recommended by the manufacturer. That's what I tried.

GP and anything with chartreuese seemed to bleed, the others not so much. Like most baits, if you store a bone white bait laying on a colored bait, the white bait will lose that fight, but it's not specific to zman.

If you do decide to store them out of the bags, keep zinkers separate there's a bunch of salt in them that gets weird out of the package and it gets all over everything. Probably just like any other super-salty soft bait.

My boxes are the Flambeau that a Zman tech recommended to me.  The boxes aren’t my problem.  I have bought out two different stores when they were closing them out and I have accumulated too many colors for my containers so it looks like some of them are going to be left at home.

Here's how I store my Z-man baits for all my shore fishing trips. They stay all mixed together all year long. Actually have about 4 of these bags stuffed just like this one, and I just add baits to them as needed regardless of color. Can't say I've ever had an issue with bleeding I can remember. You could always just try to keep darks with darks, and lights with lights or something similar.

Ah ok. I mixed a bunch of stuff and it did just fine, but I was mostly keeping similar colors togther like Smelt and the Deal in the same part of the tray, GP + Carolina Craw in another, junebug and B/B in a third. I didn't notice any bleed when stored like that.

I personally like to keep them seperated in different compartments within a tackle box according to color. However, if you live somewhere that is humid and you keep them in a shed that is not temperature controlled, they might melt some during the summer months.

Haven't ever had them bleed together and I toss them together in the bags pretty often. I leave them in the bags though.

I keep all my ned elaztech in one tiny plano that only has about 4 tiny rows. Different colors mixed together. Have never had a melting issue or colors bleeding together, though the colors are all similar. I keep it in a pocket on back of my kayak so it's been subject to heat too.

Fish still eat plastisol, in fact I have been finding they like it better after several years of the ned craze

I ruined a 3700 thin Plano Edge box when I tried to store some TRDs in it. The elaztech left all of the gray dividers misshapen. Ended up throwing that box away as not to risk damage to any other soft plastics.

Other than the original bags, the only bags I've found that 'contain' Elaztech are either Plymor 4 mil or replacement laminated bags you can get here - https://barlowstackle.com/Laminated-Worm-Bags-P3705/

The Laminated bags are the same ones that the bait companies get...these are just with no printing.

I never put any type of plastic in a box without it being in a proper bag.

Not just Elaztech but every single soft plastic lives out it's life in original bag.

I leave them in the bags now, though I’m not too worried about mixing colors. Some years back I left some in a Plano 3700 with some standard baits and it was a gooey mess.

I only have 4,114 bags and keep them in bottom drawer of gun cabinet and restock tackle box as needed. Lol

As long as the plano box is new and you don't handle any plastisol at all before handling the elaztech, this should work fine albeit some of the baits will take on some weird shape memory if you don't position them well or if you fill the box up completely. Like colors together don't bleed very noticeably but if you put coppertreuse with white lightning you're going to wind up with green lightning. Also make sure the boxes get stored lid side up. I've had issues with colors bleeding in an upside down box. Something to do with one of the chemical curing components of the material they use, kraton plastics are apparently a real pain in the neck from production to storage. Also, there are some KVD elaztech products out there. I have had more cross contamination sensitivity with that stuff than the Zman labeled stuff, though it is supposedly the same stuff. Zman and hooks only in one box. Everything else everywhere else.

I abandoned this setup a few months ago as I wanted to carry some plastisols with me too. I care less about the material type and more about the size, shape, and action. Tried keeping separate plano boxes but I think I was changing bait too often and wound up cross-contaminating. Had to toss a whole 3600 box of TRDs. Never again. These days I keep them in the original bag on a binder ring (bags come pre-punched), and use a fanny pack. I just deal with not having every single plastic I could want on hand. Instead I rotate the plastics in my pack every few days. If I can't catch something on one of 10 different plastics presented one of 3 or 4 different ways...I either need to go home or find different water.

I keep them in the bags and keep the bags in a plastic container of suitable size.

Happy Friday All,

I keep them in the original packages and organize them within generic zip top freezer bags. Occasionally when in a hurry I simply drop them into the zip top freezer bag and have not had any issues. Same goes when using conventional zip top bags too, no issue with adverse reactions.

Only time there was an issue was the time I had a lapse of judgement and put a piece of what I thought was a discarded Elaztec TRD into the bag with a real TRD sitting there. A week later I found the melted glob. See, no good deed goes un-punished. Just trying to do my part to keep things at the park tidy.

Cheers!
