Must be a Cajun thing ?

Do y'all start with a blue bait and blacken them to get'em that way? ?

Actually "blacken" ain't a Cajun thing, blackened food is burnt & we throw that in the trash.

Funny any way! ?

I think straight black is one of the absolute best worm colors. I’ve done okay on June bug and black and blue on various things but black really stands out for me. I’m going to try black and red a little more next season.

10-4 Wherever it originated, I like burnt fish. Mustard fried in peanut oil is pretty awesome too.

Black and blue is fine, but given the choice, I pick Junebug every time. It has the "secret sauce" for the places I fish: Green flake

It depends on the worm.  Junebug is totally different looking from one brand to the next.  For instance, Junebug in a Berkley Powerbait Powerworm is a totally different color than a GYCB Senko. So my preference when choosing a Powerworm is Junebug and in a Senko it's Black with Blue Flake.....  But in the grand scheme of things, I don't think the fish know the difference from Junebug to Black in the stained water I fish.  It's probably just another dark color to them.

I think June Bug started as a Florida soft plastic color black grape with green flakes.

Black & Blue has been around forever as a hair jig, vinyl and soft plastics for night bass fishing. Black w/blue flake power worms are a staple .

June Bug color silicone color jig skirts dark purple /green flake and dark green mixed strands are called several names and they all work.

A black & blue jig can be several combinations; all black jig skirt with blue trailer, blue skirt w/ black trailer, mixed black & blue skirt with either black or blue trailers or black and blue trailer.

I used them all and caught bass.

Bass Assassin, Culprit Lures, and Bitters' Bait and Tackle make a black with blue tail worm in various sizes and I have used all three. Can't say one is any better than the other. They're all good.

I have used the Gene Larew 4" Salt Craw in black/blue claws since they came out in the 1980's and it still produces.

Yeah, I was just poking the Catt. ? I remembered @Catt giving a similar response to the one he gave me in another thread when someone mentioned blackened fish being a Cajun thing.

I downloaded that gif you posted to my phone Catt. My pastor will get a kick out of it.

I put on an old coat today , put my hand in the pocket and pulled out a ziplock bag with some  black/blue Larew salt Craws in it . .

To date I’ve never caught anything on June bug or purple unless it’s pb&j.  Cloudy, stained, or dirty water always black and blue followed by pb&j

I have a stash of 4" & 6" in black blue claw & junebug blue claw.

The 6" has produced several double digits!

Junebug for dark water, especially tannic stained water. B&B for darker conditions. I like to combine the 2 with my jigs.

I'm convinced it doesnt make that much difference . A person has to choose something so we choose colors that we have caught them on in the past .My best friend and I were avid Jelly worm users . I used mostly black grape and him blueberry . It didnt make a difference . If one of us was catching bass so was the other .

My bro-in-law drew my name for Christmas and gave me, among other things, a pack of KVD Ochos. I didn't throw them away and they caught bass. But I pretty much only buy black/blue jigs and craws. I have some other colors that I never use.

If it's clearer conditions it's a junebug or redbug Zoom Ol Monster, if its muddy it a black and blue craw or jig and craw. Just my best luck.

Solid black is a really good worm!

I personally have a lot better luck with black and blue. Where I fish we have a lot of dirty water and black and blue gives your bait a darker appearance.

Not to mention that blue has a shorter wavelength and can be seen from a farther distance in water than say yellow, or orange, or red.

I just started making my own plastics and the thing about bass having no blue cones in their eyes makes me wonder if they just see blue in grayscale or something else. I asked one, "What does blue look like to you?" but he just looked at me funny.
