davisg Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Again trying to understand my Fish Finder, I got the depth to stop jumping around and cleared some of the surface clutter off the screen, also reduced the sensitivity down to like 7 on a scale of 1-20, most of my screens today were pretty clear and looked good but now i need to understand what im am looking at, if anyone could help me, here is just a picture i took today, I don't know what the blue stiff is and this was the only time it was on the screen. This was in a river and the depth lines read 0,2.5,5, and 7.5. So what am i looking here bottom wise and that blue stuff. Thanks Quote
Carrington Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 my untrained eyes are going to say grass with baitfish in it. i could be wrong and probably am but thats what i would have thought if i saw it. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted March 22, 2010 Super User Posted March 22, 2010 All I see is clutter from the sensitivity being set too high for that depth. Where you moving or stationary? Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted March 22, 2010 Super User Posted March 22, 2010 This is the same place with two different sensitivity settings: Quote
davisg Posted March 22, 2010 Author Posted March 22, 2010 Yea i was stationary when i took that, I have the sensitivity at about 7, i think my surface clutter is at about 3-4, do you take ur clutter down to zero? Quote
davisg Posted March 22, 2010 Author Posted March 22, 2010 Also it was in Stain - dirty water. If I would take my sensitivity up to 15-20 I would see nothing but red on my screen. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted March 22, 2010 Super User Posted March 22, 2010 I wasn't on top of the same two trees, but this is a few feet away with a lower setting. I don't now what the surface clarity setting was, I usally don't change it from the default setting. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted March 22, 2010 Super User Posted March 22, 2010 Here is a thermocline with a setting of 10 Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted March 22, 2010 Super User Posted March 22, 2010 Same thermocline with a setting of 3 Quote
