This topic has come up a lot recently.  Is there such a thing as too much tackle?  Do you like to buy lures just to collect tackle?  Are you a tackle hoarder?

I buy lures one at a time now.  I try it.  If its works, I might buy another one in a different color, size, etc.  In the past I might have bought 3 or 4 of them initially without even trying them.  Well now if it doesn't work, I'm only stuck with one useless lure instead of 3 or 4.

I bought my first 3 underspins today haha. I was about to buy just 1 but then I saw a homemade 3 pack for $5

If you ask me..no I don't have enough stuff. Now you ask my old lady..I shoulda stopped 15 combos and thousands of dollars ago. On the other hand I don't hunt, golf, build hot rods, hit strip clubs, close the bars or snort booger sugar..so I'm not "wasting" money on anything else.

Absolutely not. I only have 48 rods, a couple dozen reels, and twice as much tackle as my boat can haul. I'm not out of control like some of you guys.

I'm certainly a minority here.

Just walked around a bass pro shop for 6 hours with a friend who purchased a new bass boat and his cart was full, fish finders, transom trolling motor, whale tale just to name a few......he spent $1300.

I walked up and down the aisles of endless baits and nothing caught my eye. Lol

He said " what's your secret? ".

Idk, everything in my tackle box gets wet.

I have been a tackleholic. I have more stuff than I can ever use. Now I only buy what I really need. The only thing that bothers me now is some of my favorite Zoom soft plastic colors are no longer in production. I will use up what I have and hope I can find a good replacement color.

Will soon turn 67 and I'm sure I could fish the rest of my life without ever buying another bait or lure but where is the fun in that? I can at least walk into my favorite tackle store and walk out empty handed at times now so maybe I'm making progress.

Most of the purchases I make are to replace baits and equipment.  I have a lot hard baits that belonged to my dad that I will probably never fish with, and I've gotten so that I only fish with a few colors instead of the entire rainbow.

However, I still go online and check out all of websites I have bookmarked, and I'm always looking at smaller bait and tackle companies.

I think I fall in the minimalist category. I find what works and buy enough to get me thru the season.

This is me, yes I spent quite a bit of money in the beginning, but now I mostly find myself just buying more terminal tackle, jigs,  plastics,, and very rarely hard baits if I loose them.

I don't have as much as it sounds like I have when my wife is describing my tackle collection to other people.

Hey we are brothers. I just turned 67 in November. I know what you mean. I've worked my whole life and now I'm retired and I enjoy fishing and fishing related things. I don't need to apologize for that! So I have a lot of tackle snd 39 rods and reels ... and counting. ? I am, however, starting to feel the need to recycle some of my rods and reels. They are all starting to blend into one!

Funny. Isn't AJ the angler with like 300 rods? Just trying to figure out which rod to take would give me anxiety! I mean it gives me anxiety now. ?

While the Pro-V Bass rod locker is routinely sporting a no vacancy sign,

I have no trouble making a selection.

YMMV

It's easy to quit buying tackle — I've done it a thousand times.

That's great.

I enjoy the hoarding of lures as much as catching fish. I get glassy eyed and start slobbering when I’m around aisles of lures. There is no cure…

Yeah, until you open that lure closet at home and just stand there and go ... ?

I’m not as bad as I used too be. I’ve even been down sizing some…. No where near the minimalist level, trying to anyway.

I admit buying tackle is an addiction with me.  Am I going to quit?  No, I'm not a quitter.

I’m a holic and a junkie. Have been at it a long time. My addiction has lightened in more recent years. But I have a real admitted addiction to fishing crankbaits. What I buy gets used I really don’t have much hoarded away outside of duplicate/triplicate of a good pattern. I have a pretty impressive collection of well used Bandits, Bombers, Rapalas and Strike Kings. But no word of a lie there are a very small few that I did not catch a bass on.  Lately I’ve expanded myself into fishing SPRO, Lucky Craft, 6th Sense and Googan hardbaits. All my recent patterns of these is working great. I’m buying them, but not overdosing on any of them.

I used to be but maybe not now as my Elaztech collection is under 200 pks.  That’s basically all I buy and make the rest.
