Does anybody have a canopy on their bass boat? When I get my boat I will have to have one on there. Just wondering how the boat handles with one I guess that’s what I want to know.

It doesn’t have any effect on the boat but is a big pita for anyone in it. Sunscreen and a seat umbrella for you would be a lot less cumbersome.

My wife had one on her boat.  It was pretty near worthless.

I have one that fits into the Lund tracks. It takes about 5 mins to put up or down, and is really nice for cruising around in the summer with friends and family. It’s also nice for my 81 year old dad on brutal summer days when we’re waiting golden hour to come. I’ll on plane at 25-30mph and it feels sturdy. I get a lot of mileage out of mine.

Wondering if it’s a Lund product that fits into the Sportrak?  Or another aftermarket, but good idea -

They are aftermarket, made by Brocraft. They're really high quality 316 stainless steel, not inexpensive but worth the peace of mind. The bimini top was from National Bimini tops, pretty standard with sunbrella fabric.

Under power I've had no problems.  I've never checked to see how much it slows me down though.  Once your off power and on your trolling motor, wind will be your enemy.  It's like having a sail and you can get knocked around pretty good.  :ship-022:

Saw these paddling in FL last spring.  I had a bimini top on a fishing boat and found it a pain to fish/cast around.

I leave mine up on the wakeboard boat most of the summer.  It does create some top speed wind resistance but they are robust.  My neighbor has a Ranger Reata and the same.  His is up unless he is fishing.

On a fishing boat they really suck to cast from under.  Also makes moving around the boat suck.

I put a bimini top on my Classic XL.  It's more for my wife and 18-month old son for when they go out on the boat with me...I don't ever put it up when I'm out by myself.  It can be a "pain-in-the- cast", especially in a smaller boat.  But I like being able to take my family with me and giving them some relief from the sun, so I've learned to adjust my casting angles when the top is up.  I've ran around the lake with it up and it doesn't seem to bother performance, too much...granted, my wife doesn't like to go much above 25 MPH.

Bimini tops shade the cockpit area only and work well easy to put up. Bass anglers like to cast lures from both the front pedestal seat, can’t do easily without snagging the top.

A top doesn’t protect you from dun rays glaring off the water surface or wind burn.

I wear Sunday’s Afternoon hat with wide brim and neck skirt, Columbia SPF shirts, SPF 50 water proof face lotion and hands, face covering etc. My skin is toast from sun damage.

I had a top on my bassboat. I took it off. It was a pain to cast around and as previously stated it is like a sail, any wind at all and you get blown right off the lake.
