Super User LrgmouthShad Posted December 8, 2021 Super User Posted December 8, 2021 Hey ya'll, This is scheduled for up in NY. Been reading about a possible heat wave to hit the states this December. Down in NC we are scheduled to get another day in the 70s. I see this as an absolute win. Could be some good fishing weather coming up ya'll! Quote
GetFishorDieTryin Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 I honestly don't like warm snaps in the winter. More times then not it just destabilizes the bass and puts em in a strange mood. 2 Quote

A warm snap won't make the water any less cold but it sure does make it tolerable to fish for the angler. 5 Quote
Ole man Fazul Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 I am looking forward to it! I've found that in my neck of the woods, land of shallow grassy lakes and ponds, the surface water temps do indeed get an effect from these warm snaps. This past weekend I hooked a 3lber in 2 feet of water in a laydown. Surface water temp was 54F at 3PM. But in general, I keep an eye on the overnight temps and if there are three days above average, then I know the overall water temp will be more affected. When I do plan to go out I check https://www.beachtemp.us/ which I've determined to be fairly accurate for my area. I'm not sure about the forecasted estimates but it can be a useful guide. 1 1 Quote
Super User T-Billy Posted December 8, 2021 Super User Posted December 8, 2021 We're scheduled for a warmup here in OH this weekend also. I took my last two vacation days. Gonna go looking for some more crappie and eyes for the freezer. I'll do a little bass fishin too, but the main focus will be on limits of fillets. 1 Quote

Super User Choporoz Posted December 9, 2021 Super User Posted December 9, 2021 Unfortunately, we're getting the wind that typically comes with these. 15-25 MPH all day Saturday 1 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted December 9, 2021 Super User Posted December 9, 2021 It’s going to be warm here Thursday and Friday and cold again on Saturday. Typical. Quote

Most of my best winter days have been on the days when the weather was less than comfortable. The days are short and those temps might effect the surface temps a degree? Quote
Big Hands Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 We had temps in the mid-80's last weekend. Tomorrow, a high of 53° with a 90% chance of rain. I know, I know. . . . that's t-shirt weather for some of y'all. 1 Quote

The Bassman Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 I'm giving my knees a break from painting this month so our forecast is a gift. I've already put some numbers up for Dec. so this makes another year with twelve month bass. Would never have imagined doing this years ago. 1 Quote

Never even attempted prior to this year. I'm still going out next Wed or Thur if there's a decent pond with some open water. If not, I'll go after the witty pike in the nearby river. 1 Quote
Skunkmaster-k Posted December 9, 2021 Posted December 9, 2021 I wish I could play hooky from work today. It’s beautiful outside Quote
