fundseeker1 Posted December 5, 2021 Posted December 5, 2021 Hi. I imagine most of you have bass-boats but here's a question re. my new G3 V18 SF. Does anyone here have a Full Enclosure on a windshield boat that is completely clear vinyl side curtains and rear panel rather than mostly canvas with some smaller clear vinyl windows? Are they too hot in summer with top up in the driveway and is the full vinyl too rigid in cold temps? Dowco who makes the factory full enclosures for G3 is offering full clear vinyl sides and rear panel to fit the existing Bimini top on my new 18 ft G3 Angler . I'm in Ontario so I'll be dealing with high summer temps and cold fall / early winter temps . I'm concerned about whether the full clear coverage will be like a hot house in summer on the water and in the driveway and becoming quite rigid in colder temps. ( I realize you can just take em off when it's sunny but vinyl is hard to store on board .) Full vinyl might be difficult to roll and store especially when cold . I'd like to just use the enclosure while storing the boat in the driveway all boating season rather than use the trailering cover. Any thoughts would be appreciated . Thanks Quote
Super User GaryH Posted December 5, 2021 Super User Posted December 5, 2021 Not familiar with the clear vinyl covers but it sounds like you already made up your mind on the canvas ones. Hopefully someone on here with more knowledge of those covers will come along and help. Quote

Does the Dowco enclosure have a windshield that unzippers? I would just get a regular cover for winter storage. You can get one from Dowco or have one custom made. Otherwise. just get it shrink wrapped. Quote
Super User WRB Posted December 6, 2021 Super User Posted December 6, 2021 It’sca Lot more practical to put rain gear on you then the boat. Tom Quote
Kirtley Howe Posted December 7, 2021 Posted December 7, 2021 Had a 19' cuddy cabin boat that with came the full stand up "camper back" enclosure. It was canvas, with clear vinyl side windows and rear window. I loved it. My wife at the time decided we had to have a full vinyl cover in the same style so she could "see better". So $2500 later, we had one. After 2 trips out, it was removed and the original cover was put back on. The vinyl one was, as you guessed, a hot house on sunny days.. I folded it up and put it away...a couple of years later I went to unfold it, and it was very stiff, yellowed, and cracks had started. I no longer have the boat, that vinyl cover, or that wife, but for different reasons. I would avoid a full clear vinyl cover. Quote
