On impulse

Took some stock profits and on impulse bought the starter kit with the rod dryer and manual wrapper from mud hole.

 

 Been wanting to do this for a bout 10 years.  I needed to replace 2 guides on 2 of my rods any how .  So those will get me started.

 Now that I’m working nights I’ve been watching YouTube videos all night on my day off.  I’m pumped !!! I needed something to do with all my time off and model plain building wasn’t scratching the boredom itch enough.

You will find yourself building rods for every technique imaginable.  Don't ask how I know this.  ?Have fun!

I would start with an inexpensive kit to get familiar with the parts and processes.

 

Before long I recommend you get into turning your own grips from rings which will allow you to get shapes/sizes/looks that you want.  You don't need a lathe, but a drill press really helps.  If you need help on how to rig one for turning cork, let me know.

Yeah I figure I’ll start with one of the crb kits first. I need a 1/2-3/4 oz worm/jig rod.   Like I said I have some guides I need fixing first on my current stuff. Eventually I want a deep cranking rod for 1oz cranks been looking at the rain shadow kit too . Not looking at turning cork yet

We are close, so if I can help in the future, let me know.  Then you can teach me the ***.  I've always been interested in it, but never gotten up there.  I've fished the Shia since a young kid.

Oh that’s cool.  I see your in langsburgh. I graduated from Owosso live in Chesaning and work in St.John’s. The Shiawassee was the first river a ever fished.  Fished it a lot until i bought my first tin can about 5 years ago.  Well I’ve been fishing it a lot with my bigger boat up in the flats and the confluence with the Titt up near  Saginaw.  Haven’t  really fished it around Corunna/Owosso/Chesaning since which, is a shame.  I need to get the canoe out and give it a go again. 
 

yeah we should fish/hang/ build rods/ lures  some time.

I simply have never fished the Titabawassee, so would like to learn about it.  I have heard it's a good smallie river.  Closest I've come was late fall walleye fishing in Saginaw near where it forms the Saginaw River.  At least I think that is the case.

don't be lazy, redo it (applies to basically everything)

We can fish it some time.  Normal water I can get as far as state street.  It hasn’t been the same since the dam blow outs though.  Hopefully this summer it turns around as it’s only 25 minutes from my house.  Good bass fishing if you go farther up the Shiawassee too from the confluence.
