With my four recent purchases: two rods and two reels, I can now honestly say "Dude ..that's enough."

Unless something breaks, I have zero excuses or reason to buy more gear.

It brings my total to:

3 Abu silver max combos

1 Curado DC with silvermax rod

1 Revo s with veritas rod combo

1 Revo s spinning combo

1 Revo SX with veritas plx tournament

1 Revo s spinning with plx tournament

1 Shimano Symetre combo

1 Abu catfish commando combo

1 Abu Max STX spinning combo

1 Abu Max STX spincast combo

2 BPS quantum spinning combos

I honestly can't see myself buying anything else, so I guess my gear monkey has been satisfied.

I have minimal marginal benefit to any new rods or reels. I occasionally am tempted by a deal but the reality is I don’t need anything else.

I’ve even gotten that way with most lures. Soft plastics are still a soft spot…I enjoy testing new brands but I have thousands of dollars of plastics in inventory.

Never say enough but ones have things more important in life. I haven’t bought new reels or rods for awhile now, I even walked away from a good deal on reels that I really wanted. My wife gave me a permission for another Zillion SV TW, but I decided not to.
How many setups do I have? as my wife always said “too many” which will cover me from 1/16oz all the way to 2.5oz lures.
I may win the bait monkey this round but I doubt it’s gonna be forever.

And yet again I lost the battle with that bait monkey. Just got myself a nice core 50mg7, don’t know why since I have reels those size like 6-7 reels already. I guess my golf launch monitor/simulator have to wait a little longer ???

It's never enough, I tend to wait once there are good deals, and then the bait monkey comes out and he's aggressive

Admit being more conservative than the average so haven't bought a rod or a real in over 2 years.

This time of year is when I restock soft plastics in bulk which will carry me into next year at this time.

Posted

A couple weeks back I felt my arsenal was complete and then I started thinking about how a left-handed reel for my jerkbait rod would make working jerkbaits much easier.  Ordered a closeout Zillion last night from TW.   Now the arsenal should be complete but this might change in another month,

best spinning reels out there.  I have two older models and they still function as good as day 1.

The only rod/reel I need to add to the arsenal this offseason is a small swimbait rod.  I am still not sure how I broke my 792 Dobyns Champ that I used exclusively for 4" swimbaits on a ballhead jig.  I am going to upgrade that rod to a 742 Dobyns Champ Extreme baitcasting rod.  I started using the light action baitcasting rod after I broke the 792 this fall and I really liked it.  The rest of my arsenal is pretty much set.

Spinning

761 Daiwa Steez Ned (unbelievable rod)

741 Dobyns Champ Extreme: finesse swimbaits

742 Dobyns Champ Extreme Spinning:  Dropshot and multi-purpose
763 Dobyns Champ: cracking a tube, stupid tubes, small jerks

702 Dobyns Champ:  Multipurpose:  spybaits, tubes, ect

Casting

742 Dobyns Champ Extreme:  dropshot (3/8 and 1/2 oz) w/a Curado MGL70 (love this combo)

742 Dobyns Champ Extreme:  finesse swimbaits

703 Dobyns Champ:  multipurpose- plastics, senkos

735 Dobyns Champ:  football jigs, frogs, punching

704 Dobyns Champ Crankbait:  jerkbaits, lighter topwater, shallow cranks

843 GLX:  Pitching plastics, Sleepers

844 GLX:  jigs, C-rig

7' Croix Tournament Bass Spinnerbait Sweeper:  Chatterbaits, swimjigs, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits

7'10 BPS Crankin Stick Heavy:  Deep diving crankbaits, A-rigs

Kicking around the idea of getting the new Steez 761 for hairjigs and Neds but it is sold out everywhere the last time I looked.  Might have to replace a baitcaster in which the anti-reverse is going out.

I use the 742 Champ Extreme casting for most finesse swimbaits as well. Extremely pleased on ballheads with thin/sharp gammys, but I had issues with my favorite Coolbaits underspin (stouter hook)............I think it's probably my fault as my reaction and hooksets are not that great with finesse swimbaiting for smallies.  I'll have to try my Champ 792 spinning for those too this coming year..............that rod does mostly nothing aside from limited hair jig action. I'm going to try it out with spybaits this year well.......have never thrown a spybait in my life.

That 742 is a great dropshot rod too.

This is a bad attempt at a bad joke

there is always upgrades that need to be made.   Now that I’m building rods it will probably only accelerate.  There’s always another jig mold to buy.

I upgraded a bunch of reels this year, and I have no need for any rods or reels now.

More importantly, I really don't want anything new now.

Unless I get a fly setup next season.

I’m dang close. I do want a better (lighter) punch rod and a BFS combo.  Both both are just gravy. I’m fine where I’m at.

One can never have too many rods.  It's sort of like women's shoes and purses.
