My main reasons for not using it is I don't think it gets me any more bites and even though I don't backlash much I can't afford when one good backlash destroys a spool of flouro. My bait spends far more time in the water with braid on it . more tie in the water is more fish caught. And contrary to what some say it is far easier to remove backlash from braid than any other line.

Hey I have been flip flopping between braid and fluoro for my casting setups.  Just wondering what you all use for each presentation. Seems like there was a trend to go straight braid to leader for everything, but now I’m seeing a lot of pros go straight fluoro for a lot of presentations.
Braid, braid to leader, straight fluoro, mono…bonus points for sharing lb as well

as requested ~

The gear I use dictates the line choice (Type & Test) for me.

All my spinning gear is braid to mono or FC leader.

8-20 lb braid with 8 - 12 lb leader.

Topwater baits or baits I want to keep shallow, get Mono leader, everything else gets FC leader on spinning gear.

My casting gear is 'mostly' straight FC.

All horizontal moving baits as well as bottom contact baits, are FC.

10 - 20 lb.

Exceptions are few and include frogs and anything in the slop; I'm using straight braid.

40-50 lb.

I will use a stout mono (22 lb usually) for some bigger topwater deals, Rats & Whopper Plopper for example.

These choice work for me & my fishing.

Used to fish braid & a leader on casting gear.

Once I started and learned how to 'use & fish' FC effectively,

I ditched the braid.

I use a few different braided lines: Sufix 832 & Seaguar Smackdown

but my FC is ALL either Seaguar InvisX or Tatsu; including leaders.

Mono is all Sunline Shooter Defier Armilo Nylon Line   - Thanks @WRB

So that's my deal.

Then you have the skeptics that think the pros only use fluoro because they get it for free,

KVD stated in a video that one reason his uses Fluorocarbon is because he doesn't pay for it.

You could probably say that about every brand of boat, rod, reel, line, lure, etc. that he uses, and it wouldn't matter - he probably doesn't pay for anything. I'm sure he also has braid on some outfits, and probably mono or copoly, too, and he doesn't pay for those ;)  All the top pros would refuse to use anything that knowingly cost them fish, free or otherwise. They simply don't like losing.

Thank you all for your thoughts!  I think I am going to give FC more of a try.  I switched my skipping jig rod to fc and really like it.  I'm pretty good at tying the fg knot but is still really frustrating to tie...especially when it's cold or windy out and you need to do it on the boat.  Still very early in the testing phase though. I have several reels with braid on it and  I'll probably leave that on for awhile.  Anyone have any thoughts on how often you put kvd line and lure on?  after each outing?  Thanks again everyone
