When I winterized my boat I filled the tank and added Marine StaBil.  Yesterday I finally got the boat out, changed the lower unit oil, put on the muffs and fired up the engine.  She started like she was brand new.

Heres my question:

Do I need to empty the tank before adding SeaFoam?

I seem to remember a thread about it that stated you should not mix the two.   Thanks everyone

Personally i never do. I just run Stabil and Quick Kleen in each tank with a water seperator and have had no problems. I let mine sit three months this winter, went to the lake, and it fired right up and ran like a new one with no problems.

Each situation can be different though, so you might want to check with your dealer. Mine is a Mercury engine with carbs.

FYI, I have never run Sea Foam, but have heard great reviews on it.

Good luck,

Jack

Thanks Jack

I guess it may have helped if I stated what motor.  It is a 96 Johnson 150.

I too, have always used Stabil Marine but Cart has me convinced to give seafoam a try.  I will probably just run out the gas with the Stabil in it before adding Seafoam just to be safe.

I think you will be fine. My motor is basicallya new one. Just went through a total rebuild, lower unit redo with seals and I worked the carbs over last fall. It better run like new.

Good luck

I've combined the two (Stabil Marine, SeaFoam) and haven't had any problems.  Usually run SM, added a pint of SeaFoam once or twice last summer.

It says right on Sea Foam's can that it can be used with any other fuel additives. I used Sea Foam once, but due to it's price I've been using Sta-Bil Marine exclusively for a year with no problems. My motor sat from October 2nd to March 2nd and started and ran great.

Before you get upset when people don't understand your posts, try using capitalization, punctuation, and spell check.

I have been trying to buy Sea Foam, but can't find anybody selling it.

You can find it in the automotive section at Wall-Mart.

If you have a Federated Auto Parts store nearby, they are running a sale through mid-April on SeaFoam.  Almost half price on gallons.
