My wife bought a Tesla.  She loves it.

How it changed my life is I no longer sneak off in the evening to fuel up her car anymore.  And now I’m back to car washing.  I drive a 2006 Toyota Tacoma and it’s dirty. If I do wash it, I go thru a car wash and drive away.  No biggie.  Wax it?  Maybe in the spring.

wife’s new car, I’m now back to my old ways.  I keep it pristine. The door jams are spotless, wheels wiped down.  Vacuumed.   What sucks is I’m older. Haha.  It is good exercise and I can squat like a teen. I try to really limit my water usage, so there’s that.

what time us it?  Why it’s half past beer!   I have kicked around the idea of buying the cyber truck. I would never wash it.  I’d just power wash it.  Boom.

just finished her car. I didn’t want to wait for the weekend because I want to go kayak fishing.  Hehe. She took my dirty truck to work.

And sometimes when it doesn't.

I appreciate the nice, clean vehicles, but I don't drive one. I could not tell you the last time I washed my truck. It's usually more of a thing that I went down a muddy road and go to the car wash so I can spray off the heavier stuff and call it good. It's an '08 with almost 170k miles on it though, not a new Tesla.

I am with you there, Did you hear about Mojave ? Yeah thats where I do business and I am talking just go to office and back, My truck is covered with sand, and on roads for fishing and beside lakes a lot and I have birds there at night specially they sleep on trees and treat your vehicle as toilet and mud in rainy days. So what I remember my car was washed 3 times by car dealer when I send it for oil change. and it is one and half year and three times wash.

My truck gets washed every few days, but not by me.  One of our local car washes has a $30/month unlimited wash.  It includes washing, waxing, tire treatment and hand drying.  All I have to do is vacuum the inside.

In my neighborhood we have a new "Mr. Car Wash".  My SUV is a literal pain to wash, especially since it sits outside.  Since my back operation, I am afraid to climb on a stool or ladder.  For $30 a month, I get unlimited washes, hot wax and the use of their vacuums.  Their vacuums are stronger than any I have ever used and they suck every bit of the sand out of my carpet.  It's a huge bargain and keeps my vehicle looking like new.

I bought this work platform to wash my truck. Reach the high spots. I haven’t used it for the truck yet!  It’s been a table, kayak support……etc.  I’ve never stood on it. ;)

I try for a weekly rinse, apply Meguiars Detailer, clean the tires and rims and apply a tire wet spray. I actually enjoy the process, but with the colder weather coming in, that process tends to slow down and cleaning is getting the road salt off.

Interior has to be clean in my vehicle. I spend way too much time during the week in my vehicle.

Sorry about the pic. The boat was stripped down for winterization and shrink wrap. ?

A friend of mine started washing his truck.  Not long after that he started washing his boat.   It's a slippery slope once you start washing stuff.  You guys need to be careful.  :)

I run mine through a car wash every other spring...to get the salt off the undercarriage...if I remember

and only the gas station car wash that gives me a buck off if I get gas first

Northern breeds have a fairly effective way of cleaning themselves

I am amazed those things are not marketed towards camping/outdoors use.  They are super useful and so easy to transport.

This is about where I am at.  The filth on my side windows helps hide my rods and I am sure provides a little UV blocking too!

Great point.  I keep mine loaded almost year round.   Bonus...I smoke cigars in there daily....so even if it rains, the inside is still tinted

I wash my own truck and my wife's SUV regularly, inside and out.  I can't stand having a dirty vehicle, or a dirty boat either.  I will admit that my truck gets dirtier in the fall because I do a good amount of hunting where I'm driving on gravel roads, field roads, and hauling around dead deer/birds.

Its not just about the outside of the vehicle either; I regularly armor all and vaccum the interior.  The inside of my Father's truck is down right disgusting.  Whenever I tell him he needs to clean his truck, he says "I just washed it yesterday."  And then I'll reply "I'm not talking about the outside, old man."

In the summer I do a lot of this in my own driveway but in the winter I really can't do it outside here so I have to take it in to a commercial establishment for washing/cleaning.  Undercarriage wash is very important in the winter here with all the road salt and sand.

Its weird because my parent's house is spotless most of the time.  But you climb inside one of their cars and its covered in filth.  Fingerprints, dust, dirt, sand, pet hair, etc.

Oh man, I’ve yet to cross that particular Rubicon,  I just sort of casually lounge in the back with the hatch open when I want a cigar.

My Genesis Coupe is nearly 10 years old now and when it's clean it still looks great. I've always enjoyed washing my own car.

But the problem is that this year I moved to a rural area. I live on a cottage out on a farm and I drive past farmland to get home. I also don't have a garage - or a driveway - and literally park on the lawn.

I can spend hours washing and detailing my car, then drive 5 minutes down the road and it's covered in bugs and red clay. If new vehicle prices ever come down and there are actually new cars on the dealer lots I may by a Subaru Outback or Crosstrek. Those vehicles are made to be dirty.
