Baitmaker Posted February 19, 2024 Posted February 19, 2024 Something I've been working on lately are these sinking swim baits. This one is 7" and has a slow sink. Looking forward to testing it out. 12 Quote
Super User Cgolf Posted February 21, 2024 Super User Posted February 21, 2024 A sneak peak. I made a few spinner baits last weekend. Once I figure out what skirts I want on them I will post better pictures. Mix of 1/8, 1/4, and 1/2 ounce baits. 7 Quote

heavyduty Posted February 23, 2024 Posted February 23, 2024 @Cgolf, tell me more about those blue blades please. Never used that blade color. White, gold, black nickel, chartreuse, orange yes, but not blue. Thanks 1 Quote

That said I have never fished them, but hoping they will do well for me this summer. what got me thinking of the is that clear water bass love spinner baits with purple and lavender in the skirts. Hoping the blue and white blade combo will give the fish what they want. 2 1 Quote

Don’t know if it makes a difference or not to the fish, but I do catch quite a few bass this way. 1 Quote
detroit1 Posted February 24, 2024 Posted February 24, 2024 I'm with you C, i don't think it matters either. Painted heads look better to me, but i do throw both. 1 Quote
Baitmaker Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 A new crankbait I recently finished in a carp pattern. 12 Quote
Baitmaker Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 Not sure what this is supposed to be. 🤔 I originally intended on painting it in a firetiger pattern, but ended up doing spots similar to a crappie for something different. 8 Quote
Bdnoble84 Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 Fastest tie i think i’ve ever done. Bear hair is rediculously easy and it produced the first smallie of the year. 8 Quote

JHTR20 Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 @Baitmaker did you use a stencil for those crappie dots? I'm also wondering what you use for the top coat? Your baits look amazing. 1 Quote

Your baits look amazing. Thank you for the nice comment. For the spots on that bait, I used a plastic stencil that was made with a Cricut machine. The top coat product that I use is True Coat epoxy. It requires a drying wheel to slowly turn the baits due to it's long cure time. 3 Quote

Super User Munkin Posted March 16, 2024 Author Super User Posted March 16, 2024 So these I am making for a local guy that wants some tiny jigs. These are 1/8oz, finecut silicone, FG9 weedguard, and Gamakatsu 604 hooks. Skirt and weedguard are longer than what they should be for my tastes? These are the prototypes so I will have Vic let me know how short he wants them cut. Going to pour some more of these to use for bear hair jigs as I am running low on them right now. Allen 5 Quote

Allen I believe it is good practice to make the weedguard and skirt a little longer than personal preference just in case the user likes them to be longer. It’s difficult for me to quantify how long I Iike skirts, but the weedguard I always want to just reach the barb of the hook when I fold it down - no longer Quote
