At my age - if I need something at Michaels, I just go and get it...I don't care if I get funny looks.

You could always go in 'work clothes' - then no one would bother you. ;)

I refuse to give any money to HL - reasons.

Usually I will just use enough tube for the reel feet only.

Once the reel is taped on... you cant tell it there at all (see the tube).

This particular rod just got a little long piece. Actually...that piece of tubing was repurposed off an old Fuji Rod (I believe).

Marabou jigs are a cold water staple according to many articles in the media but I've never enjoyed tying them. Recently I've given them another go using the "three feather" method which distributes the material around the hook satisfactorily.

Compare the dry forms of marabou and bucktail; After a cast or two with marabou all that fluff will be compressed. Paused during retrieve or sitting on the bottom, it will fluff up again enticingly. Bucktail has a subtle breathing action.

I'm thinking if one doesn't work, try the other!

I cannot decide what type of blade to put on this. There is alot of flash tied in so im leaning silver but do i go double willow or indiana. Ill probably shorten the arm. Ill be using this in a river along rip rap banks early season. Unless we get some substantial rain the visiblity is 3-4 ft right now, which is as high as this river will ever be.

Some of my latest work in red cedar. I've been building some larger ones for Muskie lately, but will get back to more bass and walleye baits soon.

Here is a 3" diver done in hot fluorescents and pearl paints, and a 10" Muskie bait painted in a Saugeye pattern.

Thanks Detroit! Working on a few more now plus a 14" that would fill up more wall space. ☺️

I tied my first bass jig the other day. It’s just a simple hand-tied rubber skirt on an 1/8oz ballhead, but I really like how it turned out. It should do well, now that the river smallmouth are getting active.
