Super User jbsoonerfan Posted November 28, 2021 Super User Posted November 28, 2021 Well, I suppose you can tell by my user name which team from the state of Oklahoma I root for. That being said, I have NEVER hated OSU or even rooted against them. Sure, when OU and OSU play, I want OU to win, but other than that I don't root against them. I was raised to hate Texas, not OSU. Now, I am afraid after tonight OSU is going to get screwed out of the cfp. They "should" win the Big 12 championship against Baylor and IMO they deserve to be in the cfp. After watching Cincy yesterday, OSU would destroy them!!!! I have no idea how it will play out, but I think OSU deserves a spot in the final four assuming they beat Baylor. There is still a week left and a lot of games to played, so you never know. BTW, lets move this to at least 8 teams. 1 Quote
rtwvumtneer6 Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 First of all, great game. I think you got the short end of the stick in officiating tonight, but I guess that can be expected playing on the road. As a WVU fan I have an interest in Houston's effort to spoil Cincinnati's party, and I see ND lurking back there waiting to slide in (because, well it's ND). But, if Ok St beats Baylor and finishes 12-1 as a conference champion and 2 wins over top tens to end the year, that's hard to keep them out. Until conference and playoff structure changes (and both will, drastically I believe) any time the Big 12 gets a team in it's a win. Don't be surprised if Bama beats UGA in ATL and the SEC still sneaks 2 in this year. But I digress, still a lot of football to be played before it's set in stone. Wishful thinking... Georgia, Michigan, Cincy & OK St. Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted November 28, 2021 Author Super User Posted November 28, 2021 I will NEVER blame the officiating for the outcome of a game. I have coached for 15 years and I have always told my teams that one or two calls doesn't change the game. I stand by that on this game. IMO OU was offside on the safety and it wasn't called. I just hope OSU gets their chance. Quote
rtwvumtneer6 Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 @jbsoonerfan Any surprise that happens and Lincoln knew he was on his way out? Happened to us in 2007... The 13-9 loss to Pitt, knocking us out of the BCS National Championship game (where I still believe we would have run circles around Ohio State). So, it comes full circle. Mark Stoops to OU. Neal Brown goes home to Kentucky and Rich Rod returns to Morgantown. Yep, I said it lol. 1 Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted November 29, 2021 Author Super User Posted November 29, 2021 Not at all. I never thought he had what it took to be a great coach. He had great talent and he never could get it done. Winning the Big 12 wasn't really much of an accomplishment the last few years. His record in the cfp says it all. He wanted to call plays and wouldn't hire an OC, which IMO isn't the head coach's job. I listened to almost all of his Tuesday pressers throughout the years and he just never seemed like a hard nosed guy. He always skirted around questions and never placed blame where it needed to be. Who knows though, maybe as soft as players are these days you can't blame them anymore. He is a heck of a recruiter though and can obviously turn a QB into a great player. Apparently he doesn't realize defense is where you win championships. It will be interesting to see where they go from here. I would love for Bob to take over for a couple years and move some new guys in (assuming some of the other coaches go with LR) and possibly groom one of them to be the HC. I don't think there is a big name out there right now that might be interested, so that may be the path they take. I certainly won't miss him, but that may come back to haunt me when it comes to future recruits. Moving to the SEC during this transition could be the worst thing that could possibly happen to the program, or it could be the best. Only time will tell. Quote

Only time will tell. As I hinted to previously, I think we're just cracking the surface on the conference shuffling. OU and UT are just the first few domino's in what I expect to be a colossal overhaul. Glad to see Bob will be back on the sideline and curious to see if it's more than just an interim bowl game gig. rtwvumtneer6 Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 @jbsoonerfan BTW if you travel for games and ever find yourself in Morgantown, let me know! Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted November 29, 2021 Author Super User Posted November 29, 2021 @rtwvumtneer6 They might not ever go back there. LOL I appreciate it! Quote
rtwvumtneer6 Posted December 4, 2021 Posted December 4, 2021 Well @jbsoonerfan we're not off to a great start today.... Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted December 4, 2021 Author Super User Posted December 4, 2021 Glad I'm not a betting man. I would have bet my house OSU would have beat Baylor. Quote
