fishinNWA Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 Just curious to see what types of knots people tie. I personally tie a plamor knot and have never broken off on a fish to my knowledge. I am super bored lol 1 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted November 28, 2021 Super User Posted November 28, 2021 I only use two for bass fishing, Palomar and the uni knot Quote
rtwvumtneer6 Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 Braid - Uni (though eye twice) or Snell Fluoro - Double Pitzen Copoly/mono - Palomar Alberto for connecting braid to leader Always exceptions but this covers most of it. 1 Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted November 28, 2021 Super User Posted November 28, 2021 Uni for everything except a drop shot, then palomar. Should mention that some years ago before I had to take certain Meds that cause my hands to shake, I used the San Diego jam knot, except for drop shot's. 1 Quote
Kenny Yi Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 "the best knot to tie is the best knot you CAN tie" for 2021 and maybe beyond, that was the Uni/Fish-n-fool knot 3 Quote
Happybeerbuzz Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 Braid: Palomar knot Mono/Copoly/Flourocarbon: San Diego Jam knot Leader: FG knot Occasionally, I will mix in a Trilene, Uni, Fishing Fool, Orvis, or Improved Clinch knot just for fun. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted November 28, 2021 Global Moderator Posted November 28, 2021 Braid..Palomar Flouro..SDJ (I Don’t use leaders) Mike Quote
Super User BrianMDTX Posted November 28, 2021 Super User Posted November 28, 2021 Mono: I/C, Trilene or Palomar (Palomar particularly for DS) Mono-to-braid (on spool for backing): Uni-to-Uni (double Uni) Mono-to-braid (leader): Lefty Kreh knot Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted November 28, 2021 Super User Posted November 28, 2021 Line to bait no matter what line….Pitzen. It is fast, strong, and easy and I can tie it with gloves on. 1 Quote
Super User Catt Posted November 28, 2021 Super User Posted November 28, 2021 Palomar everything ? 1 Quote
ike8120 Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 Since I was a kid I have always used the improved clinch knot, has worked for me for many years. 2 Quote
garroyo130 Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 Small lure or straight to hook: Palomar Large lure: Trilene Braid: Fish n fool 1 Quote
BC VC basser Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 San Diego Jam Palomar FG on leader connections Quote
BassinCNY Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 I use mono more than anything and that's mostly an improved clinch. Palomar for braid and flouro. Braid to a leader is an Alberto. Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted November 28, 2021 Super User Posted November 28, 2021 I'm the odd-ball around here - for all my terminal knots I use what I call the MK knot for short...been using it a couple years now and no knot failures yet. Braid to leader - FG knot Backing to mainline - Uni-Uni Backing to spool - Arbor 1 Quote
FishinBuck07 Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 Braid- Palomar Fluorocarbon- San Diego Jam Knot Braid to leader- Shin knot Quote
Chet C Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 braid to mono or flouro. i use the Alberto know, using a home made tool that works slick, even in the wind, about 10 seconds chet Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted November 28, 2021 Super User Posted November 28, 2021 I pretty much use the uni pretty universally, 4-6 turns. On braid, sometimes I will use the palomar as well since it cinches down real tight with braid. Quote
TcRoc Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 Braid … Palomar unless on a flippin hook than I shell it. Braid to Flouro leader uni to uni Flouro.. up in the air .. trying a lot of different knots .. I just have problems with my hands tying flouro . Quote
Oklahoma Mike Posted November 28, 2021 Posted November 28, 2021 Braid to leader - Alberto Braid to hook or smaller bait - Palomar Braid to larger bait - SDJ or Trilene FC - Trilene or Palomar depending on bait Mono - Improved clinch Quote

Switched over to the san diego jam knot and no issues. Changed up wrap count and everything but never worked for me. I liked how easy it was to tie but wasnt meant to be. Floro/Mono/Copoly: San Diego Jam Knot Braid: Palomar Leader: FG Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted November 29, 2021 Super User Posted November 29, 2021 For lures...Uni Knot regardless of line type. Arbor Knot for tying to spool. Like the Alberto for splicing, but have used the Blood Knot the last few times. Easier for me to tie. EDIT: My dad taught me the Clinch Knot when I first started fishing. I graduated to the Improved Clinch Knot before finding the Uni Knot. I'll use the Fish N Fool Knot if I feel it is better to go thru the hook eye twice. Recently started using the Non-Slip Loop Knot. It is supposed to be better than the Perfection Loop Knot. Quote
James Sandoval Posted November 29, 2021 Posted November 29, 2021 Braid: Palomar FC & mono: improved clinch Leaders: blood knot Spool: Arbor Quote
Super User Bankc Posted November 29, 2021 Super User Posted November 29, 2021 Braid to leader: FG or Double Uni if in a hurry. Braid: Fish N Fool Fluorocarbon and copoly: Berkely Braid knot Mono: Trilene knot or Fish N Fool Bonus knots: Non-Slip Loop knot for crankbaits sans snap, Palomar for snaps, Arbor knots for spools, snell knot if appropriate and double overhand to secure the weight on a drop shot.
