Sheesh. Mine's dormant. I've been sooo tempted to delete it.

Wife uses it to connect with her family, I've occasionally gone

on to see what's going on with old friends...only to find out

that I really don't care what's going on with old friends because

they're political nutcases, or other and I just don't need that

in my life.

So maybe this brings me a step closer to the delete FB button....

I use social media of all types.  It is entertainment and gives me the ability to connect with family across the country.  It also is how things are done these days and being an educator it helps me to keep up with what my 4th graders are talking about lol

I tried it for about a month back in 2009. That was enough.

I'm on my second account. Joined in 2009 - at the height of my time, I had over 400 'friends', member of 30 groups, co-moderator of 3 groups. I left in 2017 due to overload.

Re-joined about a year ago. Currently have 6 'friends' - three people here, my wife, my sister and my brother-in-law. Member of 5 groups - all fishing related - and follow 47 pages; 8 bands/musicians, 1 software company and the rest are fishing related.

I keep it low-key now...don't want to get like I was my last run-through.

Social media is a negative breeding ground.

I enjoy all the posters on this site.  We overlook any spelling or grammar errors.

WE really do our best to help each other.  I really need the help at my age.  Started those 1 second hesitations while speaking.

You cannot delete a Facebook account, only deactivate. Its always there waiting for you.

I had successfully avoided Facebook until last month. Then I purchased on Oculus Quest 2 VR system and it mandates that you have a FB account. I created one, locked everything down, and haven't looked at it since.

That may be true but i will never be able to activate mine.

Here is how its gone forever from me, myself and I and people whom were friends on facebook.

I opened an account in 2009 using a secondary e-mail address, I then used a fake name which was a nickname i got labeled with in the military and i used a fake birthdate.

I didnt want my real name to be googled and then show that i am on facebook, I wanted to remain anonymous.

All my friends knew me by my fake name so it all worked out to remain in the shadows.

I was off fakebook for over a year and decided to open it up at thanksgiving to see how things were going.

I was watching some online shows and using a vpn from the middle east and the fb came back and said unknown location, access denied.

I tried to log on again and fb now wanted a downloaded passport info page or drivers license to cross referance my info to the account, this is how facebook helped me to rid myself of facebook.

Because I used a fake name and birthdate its a no go, no match to any id of mine so my account is locked and any friends no longer see my profile on their friends list. ? threw away the ?  good?.

I thought about getting a fb account a few years ago. I didn’t do it.

It never goes away. I still get happy birthday wishes from people.  They say FB sent out an announcement.  I quit FB 8 years ago when a crazy stalker reached out to me.  Brrrrrrr…shiver.

no thanks.  Your account closes, but everything you’ve done to date stays I think.

You can go to your settings in your profile and set the visibility of different elements, such as your birthday, to "Only Me." Then FB will no longer notify your friends or anyone else about your birthday.

Im 24 and Ive never had it. Some people my age are even getting rid of it/using it way less than they used too. I get why people use it, but for me and many others there is just too much BS involved with it.
